Can you use Reptile Lights?

i have a 150 watt hps but i dont want my plants to grow tall and stemmy. Im under the impression that using HPS for vegging is bad because it makes the plant stretch instead of grow compact and bushy...

so i was wondering if it would help me to throw a few of these blue reptile lights in there??? just to supplement the hps

also it says they emit UVA. Would this hurt the plants???

plants produce thc to protect themselfs from uv rays while flowering so thats no problem I dont know about the lamp spectrum is it a heat lamp or day light lamp if its the latter go for it


Edit: I think the heat factor would out way the benifit of the light your plants would get you would have to have the lamp real close which would burn the plant an aquarium lamp would be better suited for the job

you could use 45 watt 6500k cfls for vegging instead as they dont need that much light. as for the uva light use it but only for 30 minute or so a day it will increase thc! but not too much or yes it is harmful.

Ive never had any problems using my ReptiGlo UVA light. I really think it DOES increase potency if not yield too. I put it on for the middle 6 hours and I think it is VERY USEFUL!!!
