Can you tell which strain you are smoking ?

I like that there is so much variety in strains, but if I gave you a blind test. would you be able to tell me what strain you are smoking if someone gave you a joint of a specific strain ?

It depends on alot of factors. Are we talking major strains like og, diesel, blueberry and such then the answer is definately but if we are talking joe smoes pollen chucked orange snozzleberry then no way man. You see my point

If you take the (lets say) 5 strains I smoke the most and give me a blind taste test, absolutely...

If you take a mix of 100 random strains, hell no.

Some have more distinct flavors than others as well, cheese is almost always identifiable just like lemon or citrus strains, even purple strains have a flavor that is identifiable even if the particular pheno isn't purple

That depends.... if somebody hands me a spliff or a bowl then i don't think there is a chance. If i can see the bud there might be a chance to identify a few strains. But then again, my plant X could be different from another grower's plant X because its soil instead of coco or softer water or whatever. So even with my 30+ years of smelling good and bad weed i don't think there are many strains i could identify from smoking a bowl.
Best chances for me would be: Brick weed, Super lemon haze, 90s Skunk, Bodhi's Dream Lotus.

I keep between 8 and 12 varieties in jars most of the time. I could identify every one blind, no doubt. Anything else besides cheese or cindy, fuhgeddabouddit.

Other than the strains I keep in rotation I'd have no way of knowing probably and some of those i'd be hit or miss on as well, my indicas/kush's i rarely smoke anymore but they are crowd favorites still....real durban would be easy too i guess

Anything that has blueberry, white widow and skunk, sure...most ogs I wouldn't have a clue.
