can you snip leaves during flowering to get more light to buds?

This is my first grow and i'm needing to know if it is ok to remove leaves that block light to the lower buds.I'm 5 weeks and 2 days into flowering indoors using 1 150w hps on one female,the top 3 colas are looking good but lower buds are developing slowly,i also have two floros (one grow buld and one blue)that i use for the bottom.any feedback would be great.

when she was in veg mode i didnt realize that the light was to far away so she grew lanky and now 5 weeks in i'm left with alot of small buds at the bottom
