Can you read?

I'm sorry, but it seems that a lot of people I talk to are really hesitant to buy a book.

(Side Story) I went to Barnes and Noble today and found ALL the cannabis books behind the counter. Someone has been stealing them...Wow, I thought to myself, If only some of the crooks stealing these books were growers. It still sucks to steal, though.

I just want the new growers to know that their is a wealth of info in a few books that you can find (or order online) from your book store...

3 that I highly recommend are:

1) Jorge Cervantes' "Medical Growers Bible"
This book is organized and easy to read for quick info. Tons of pictures, too.

2) J. G. Stitch's "Marijuana Garden Saver".
The "GO TO" book when shit gets hairy. Life comes at you fast and you need to diagnose and react fast to save your babies. This book is an awesome tool.

3) Ed Rosenthal's "Marijuana Growers Handbook Indoor High Yield Guide"
This gem introduces you to the art form of growing cannabis. A lot of information on how to pack on a couple ounces at harvest time...

There is a wealth of knowledge but also a lot of crap in print...Go with the big names that the Institutes agree with...

That is all.

id like to add one NOT to buy "The Cannabis Grow Bible" by Greg Green he read alot on overgrow it seems and just copied what he read i doubt he can even grow a good crop. the book sucks! i have no clue how i got duped into buying it must have been stoned. if you just want some eye candy the "Cannabibles" 1-3 are pretty cool. the author is a real pot snob but he knows that so its all good.

It was recommended by my local Hydro shop.

A lot of info, haven't had time to read it yet.

yo those cannabibles are awesome goes through the strains and tells you about them. taste, smell, look. alot of great pics showing same strains grown differently and all. two thumbs up good weed porn

I like looking at the Canna-porn, but the grow books are where the applicable info is at...The porn books are good for choosing strains, if you have the luxury...

I hated the jorge cervantes book, guys out of tune, stuck a few years back. His personal knowledge seems to be outdated.

I think these books can sometimes cause people to be too rigid in how they think a plant should be grown.

Y cervantes bible is sick, well worht the money.

"Dank" by subcool is a great coffe book table though. Alot of info and great pics on his strains and breeding.

"Organic marjiuana" by soma is also really good

"D.J Shorts guide to growing execptional marjiuana" is also pretty good. Especially for breeding.

All organic and mostly soil. Amazon do a deal on the 3 i think

i kinda agree with speedy on jorge cervantes, . he likes to go around to other grows and write what they did.. and although the bible gets reprinted almost every year, i do find alot of the info on it to be a lil out of date.. but saying that, there are definitely some basics that never go out, and the bible has a ton of pix and is easy to follow along with and is good if you have any problems, it makes a good reference guide to help diagnose any probs you maybe having..
i think that all books should only be used roughly, and not to be taken as the be all of growing... you need to learn to combine others experiences along with what you have learnt and come up with a grow style that works for you.. and never stop learning..

yah. i forget that first year that's it went into publication, but it has definitely been around for quite a few years..

I think time and practice is everything,I read ed's book's when i was a kid and mel frank's book's and it did help a little, but all the years as a micro grower no more than 30 plant's at a time,i've gottin better over the years by constant study,hands on and literature,i beleave that is what makes a great grower.Always follow the industry ur in or it will leave u behind!!!!!

I've only read parts of Cervantes' book, but I agree there's too much BS being tossed around that most personal growers don't need. Unfortunately it's on the boards too, and I think new growers are easily overwhelmed.

I think you could get enough info out of a decent brochure.

how to plant a seed
light cycles
veg time
grow time
and a basic soil mix

the rest your gonna learn from your own mistakes and others advice.

Marijuana Botany by Robert Connell Clarke is a good one.

Well said, people do see things in books and treat it lke the word of god. Some people have to realise were the gods of our plants and when you have the real basics down its about responding to the plants and know waht they need from experience rather than getting knowledge 100% from a book which dosent know a thing about you or your grow and is guessing whats going to happen.

I think stay with similar strains for a while and things are a hell of a lot easier also.

(i know ive used "god" and "hell" in this post, you'd assume i was religious, lol)

I agree, also where and when you grow are rarely addressed. Tap water, air, soil, etc is different around the world...It would be cool if someone moved around the country trying the same experiments to see...
