Can you grow with aquarium metal halide

I was thinking of buying a second hand 250 metal halide coral reef light. Would it be any good for growing cannabis. I want to get rid of the stupid cfl's in my veg box.

eh up nom... should imagine it would ok... I have used one of my ol fishtanks as a clone and veg cab.. it works... for veg I think the t-5 lighting is the way to go although I use a 250W MH... dont think it matters if its a fishtank or a closet the most important thing is to get good air exchange.. ah sorry just re-read your thread tis just the light... should imagine it would be good and if the price is right then give it a bash.
