Can you flower autos on 16/8 light schedule?

Hi, I have a couple of plants in the same grow room, and one of them turned out to be an auto and started flowering. My question is: Can I keep the light schedule on 16/8 or even 18/6 in order to let it flower and let the rest grow?

Thanks

You absolutely can. In a way, it is the big appeal with auto's. I've heard that 12/12 can encourage more rapid flowering or help induce preflowering with certian strains, but that's not a fact and def not for all autoflower strains.

I know this is an old thread but a bit of info

Started 2 autoflowers 3 days apart in my veg tent. completely forgot that i hadnt changed it from 16/8 from moving my last photo into the flower tent transition.
autos were supersmall and i wondered if both seeds were duds.
massive preflower pistils at node bracts at day 20. veg has almost completely stopped at day 22. one plant is only about 6” tall, i uprooted the other and started a new seed in its place, i cant bring myself to kill the other plant ( one i killed was a seed freeby)

takeaways- autoflower at 16/8 seems to have kickstarted the plant into flower resulting in a stunted tiny plant.
my last autoflower yielded 87 dry grams in the same enviroment at 18/6 and finishing at 16/8 (during last month of actual flowering)

Most say 18 minimum, and i go 24/7.

So, yes, lighting schedules can impact how quickly an autoflowering strain begins producing preflowers. With that being said, I think that when you begin to administer bloom nutes has a larger impact on how quickly the strain begins to flower. In any event, having less light and more dark may cause the plant to start flowering a few days earlier, but I seriously doubt that it would cause any type of 'stunting'. Now, of course having less hours of light you are going to get plants that aren't as large and that don't have either as dense or as abundant flowers.

no since i had the lights on from 16/8 from the start instead of 18/6 i wildly underestimated my DLI and gave the plants a minimal amount of light on top of an extra two hours of light i lost. so yeah the growth was stunted from what i normally achieve from an autoflower.

keep that light 18/6 as long as your other plant is in the vedge stage

so the caramelino is now flowering. plant definitely didnnot reach anything close to its potential at 16/8. the lights are now back at 18/6 .
i killed the other small plant and restarted another at the proper 18/6 on jan 15th-20th (soaked seed/ first appearance). it seems to be doing well, i will be able to see how big this plant gets and see how it compares

Original situation

sprouted 2 seeds 4 days apart from dec 20th-24th
light was on 16/8 from the start. this is occurring in what i would consider my veg tent. light was reduced to 16/8 to transition my last plant into a flower tent and forgot to put back.
observed very slow growth from comparison
from my last autoflower round which was also from what i would consider inferior seed genetics. ( last autoflower was a crop king seed as opposed to current victory seed autoflower )
observed preflower pistils at day 16. thick preflower pistils. at this point the plant was only 6 “ high and only at 5 nodes.
second plant, strawberry cheesecake by seedsman seeds, was only 3 nodes with pronounced preflower pistils at day 13 (plant was killed)
replanted a new strawberry cheesecake auto on jan 15th-20th.
my grows are dialed in with similar lights in both tents. i have been running same medium, same nutes, same lights for over year and a half.
hlg 260 + 24watt fs+uv in 2 x 4 x 60 tent for veg and small autoflowers
hlg 260 rspec +21 watt kind led micro flower spectrum supplement for flowering tent
nutrients are full line Canna Terra series
medium is mother earth coco peat

I'm having this exact same problem. I changed back to 24/0 and they improved but are definitely stunted.
I started two more which are seedlings in the same grow room. I want to change to 18/6 but I'm worried it will stress the seedlings into early flowering.
