Can you chop the top and let the bottoms mature

I have been watching this site and I have never seen anyone say whether or not it was normal to chop the top and let the bottom ripen. I guess I am curious.

Good stuff. Thanks guys. That is a pretty cool concept. I wasnt sure if that is enough shock to mess up the plant or if its like most other plants that like to be pruned.

i've got a sativa that it is in it's late stages of flowering. i've got good mature buds on top, not so mature at the bottom. i've been informed that before harvest, no nutrients are applied to the plant. In this case, what should be done? Keep applying nutrients til complete harvest? or when you take the first batch of mature buds?

I have heard mixed theories on the subject. It was pointed out to me that using molasses and water would do the trick for the rest of the grow, if 1-2 weeks is all that is needed. Someone else said using organic nutes all the way through doesnt hurt anything.

Since there is so much root mass to support that foliage, when you take the top do you just lop that section of the plant that is matured? Like chop it at such and such node or are we trying to save some of the big solar panel fan leafs for getting light still.

Taking foliage makes sense that with this much root to foliage ratio you are going to have some growth bursts. Definitely worth doing some independent testing for ourselves...
