New to Growing and couldn't find my answer searching.

I just checked my three plants (mystery bag seed) which have been on a 18/6 Light cycle since around the last week of december and are clearly showing their sex. Is this normal? From everything I've read and researched sex doesn't show until 12/12 light cycle.

5 days ago I transplanted them to bigger pots nothing else has changed. I'm happy with the two girls and only 1 being male... So, I'm definately not complaining.. but these ladies are not mature enough to go 12/12 yet. So, I'm a bit confused on why the sexes are showing so soon. Any comments are greatly appreciated, Thank you. :weed:

Pre-flowers will show in veg, some strains take longer than others. Personally this is how I deem proper maturaty, I do not throw them into 12/12 untill I see these indicators.

No problem, they look good, I like the main light/reflector you have made. I don't use Cfls but I think U get the best light when the bulbs are perpendicular to the plant, I guess laying flat in your relector. How many watts you running?

If you wanna know the sex before throwing it under 12/12 you can place a bag over one branch for 12 hours a day.

*It is normal for all strains to exhibit pre-flowers after the flip (12on/12off), and it does indicate the sex (male pre flowers/female pre flowers)

Hope you get all ladies.

Hope you get all ladies.

Im sorry, but does this make sense at all to anyone out there? when a plants shows preflowers, they are usually distingushable, male or female preflowers, indicating the sex. so if i have a plant showing female preflowers before swich, i can bet its gonna be female when i switch(unless it herms). I dnt understand how u figure preflowers dont determine sex

If you veg long enough they will show pre flowers. I always let mine show before I switch to 12-12 and they seem to flower alot faster like within the first week of 12-12 no waiting 2 weeks and still wondering is this a male or female

^ He said it. I veg till I see pre-flowers, and even then I'll give it an extra week for good measure.

Oh yes, He was removed immediately... I hope it wasn't too late. I swear they showed their sexes just over night. It was quick.

Th staminate plant can take up to 5 weeks before the pollen sacks are mature enough to spread there pollen.
Pre-flower is a indication of maturity, the pistillate plant is ready to flower.

I guess this is a rhetorical question since you answered it in the title of the thread....

If you are showing sex in 18/6 then you are showing sex in 18/6.....

(it is called pre-flowering).

so, just to talk about the male plant I removed from the ladies... I actually put him on my bathroom counter which has a white plastic skylight.. so far the stubborn full of balls fawker hasn't died or even looks like hes going to anytime soon.. going on 5 days so far under that type of light. I wonder how long he will last. Either way, its kinda cool to have a plant on the bathroom counter

This brings another question up. Anyone ever tried just using skylights to grow with for lighting?

NEVERMIND... I looked up some threads about that. Not near enough lighting for anything worth a shit. Love this forum. HaPpY SmOkInG ALL
