I would not advice growing with either get a hps, lush lighting was what I used at a friends looked pretty but that was it,I do veg under two t5 lights a 4 tube 2 tube one they do the job perfect infact can't remember the last time I vegged fully under a hps,I do veg for 14 days under a 600 sometimes, just depends what room I use,if I flower at 2 1/2 ft then I veg for that extra time under 600.but I can not remember the last time I did a. Grow from start to finish under a 600,but all flowering has to be done under hps lights that's not to say future I think it might turn out to be the way forward led but a lot more research needs doing on em,I have never known a led produce a lb a plant.but if it works for you and you are getting over 10 per plant from a led then ya doing really well, stay green hope ya grows go well

First of all, not everyone is trying to grow pounds at a time. Personally, I'm looking for quality over quantity as I (like many people on here) grow only for my own personal medicine. Also, there have been side by side test grows (I can dig up links if you want) between hps and led, and the yield differed by around %10 on average. This notion that LED is not capable of producing weight is largely untrue. Honestly, the main drawback with them right now? They are stupid expensive. If you can't afford them obviously hps and mh are tried and true options. For me though, they are inefficient, they turn way too many watts into heat instead of light and I frankly don't have time trying to figure out how to cool my tent down with one of those easy bake ovens in there.

Yea that's the only reason my entire grow room doesn't have LEDs , the price. All other aspects are superior, heat control, PAR output, yields, quality, I can just keep going on and on cause they are that much better than my HPS.

That's a good point and something a lot of folks don't get. Everybody isn't trying to make a living off growing. There's a lot of hobby growers doing only one or two plants at a time in a closet for personal consumption.

To make an analogy, the difference between the old R+B UFOs and the new efficient top bin whites is like comparing old computer cpus with modern cpus.

There's such a huge range in performance, arguing whether "leds" work or not is ignorant. We're talking about a range of 15% to 55% efficiency led based lamps. A fresh 600W HPS lamp is about 35% efficient, to put things in perspective, and most LED junk is 25-30% efficient.

Could you imagine people making statements like "computers are slow!" when they've only used an apple II E?

Owning both I do like LEC over LED by far.
Of course I don't own any of the super high performance a51s that everyone and their dog rave about, I'd put money on the lec.

Same thing as CMH pretty sure.
The LEC's he's referring to are high end CMH, they're LEC Sun Systems with Philips Elite Agro CMH 315w, high quality hood/ballast/bulb in a package, here's a link, awesome lights, comparable efficiency to high end LED's, cool. Priced in between hps and higher end LED's like the A51's. I run 2 of them in my main flower room but I like LED for quality, frostiest buds I've grown have been under LED's, so I run a small LED tent as well.
