Hello everyone at RIU . Sorry for bugging you guys again..im trying desperately to grow a plant ...not a big time harvest but a few plants...and i fail everytime...the thing is i have read posts, instructions ,faq's,journals and stuff on your website. its really informative and thank you guys for that...the problem is im from india and here we dont have easy access to a lot of things (say rockwool cubes, ph / ppm testers , heating mats,perilite, blooming ferts , rooting hormones .......and it goes on).
thankfully ..i do have a lot of good seeds(bagseed) from different indian strains to keep trying u knw....

so can i use this thing as my medium ...should i add anything more...say sand or sumthing for drainage ??? i have attachd pics of this thing i came across recently

i guess one of my main problems is the soil i use..its crappy garden soil(i dont even have the option to switch to hydro, aero, watevr...u ppl are lucky man...such nice things u get there to grow indoor)
...

Pls help....i want to grow!!:peace::peace::joint::joint::peace::peace:

soil will work fine if that's all you can find - and if you can't get ahold of some perlite to help loosen it up a bit - I've heard of people using volcanic rock crushed up, which can usually be found as decoration, or for landscaping. My friend crumbles up tree bark into his soil to help loosen it up a bit, and it holds water... some people say it obstructs root growth... but uhhh... so does tightly packed dirt. haha

Oops, you beat me to the punch.

That soil looks great - some Perlite would help, but other than that it's perfect - better than mine actually. :P

If you can get some Styrofoam that would help loosen the soil up fill the bottom with the foam and get small like 1/4" ( smaller the better ) Make sure when you water you don't flood it because the Styrofoam will come to the surface. I know you have fish in India so grab a fish tank PH kit. This should have drops not tablets.

Need soil that is a picture of fertilizer but it will work. Are you growing in the ground? buckets? indoors? Info will help get you some better answers about what you are doing wrong. How long did your first plants last after you planted them? Stuff like that can help me tell you what you could be doing wrong. Depending on the area of India you are from you should have no problems whats so ever except raining season.

thank u again..for finding time t answer my queries..i was using garden soil from outside...untill i came across this..so i was confused.i havent met with muh sucess...i germinate the seeds nicely ..after dat problems start...most doesnt sprout up ...even if they do..they come out pretty crooked...and if they do survive il kill them my oversmartness (overwatering and heat mostly)...im trying indoors only...also have access to sunlight as i try in small party cups ..i have a 23 watt + 18 watt as of nw...dats it ..and trust me gettin ph testers or adjustment kits is nt dat easy ..forget vermiculite or perilite..tell me sumthing ... after ur seeds germinate(crak) and u place them in soilwaiting for sprout...wat is the lighting scenario...darkness or light..also iv tried green housing my seeds for 100percent humidity

What it sounds like is they get to the past the germination phase and start moving into the veg growth phase here they will suck any nutes in the ground until they are gone. If you keep them in party cups and they only last about 2-3 weeks thats because the roots bound by the size of the cup. Keep the light above the seeds about 6 inches sounds like you are using CFL's. They seeds need 18/6 until you are rdy to flower. then 12/12 lighting.
