can i turn misters off when lights off?

i know i can run misters 24/7 but would there be a problem if i just had the mister running only when the lights are on?

Need a little more info to answer correctly... type of grow for instance.
plants do not photosyns. with lights off .. but roots can dry out....

He said it was an aeroponic grow, this is about misters. What does the lighting or anything else have anything to do with it?

Growing with misters is aeroponics, do you know of another way to grow with misters that is called something else?
Unless this is just a cloner unit, but either way you should be using a recycle timer like the one I linked

also used to drive up humidity in an op ...
how many ways do you need.....
it was just a simple question....

Lol yeah they are used for that on extremely rare occasions but obviously he is using an aeroponic system
It isn't an assumption, it is just ridiculous to even consider that this thread was made for one of those two things.

OP are you using an aeroponic system? Or are you spraying water all over your plants when the lights are on via misters? :wall:

Actually about 3 to 5 seconds per minute for low presssure. About 2 seconds per minute for medium pressure and about 1 second per minute foe high presuure or air atomized is usually enough and that is using low capacity mistesr sucs as 1 gallon per hour. Most of the little cheapy misters (they typical green., blue or red ones made for spagetti tubing are as much as 10 gallons per hour, Gross over kill). The easiest way to handle it and also get the best life span out of your pump is to actaualy run the pump 24 hours per day. Install a T fitting and an electric solenoid valve controlled by a timer. when the solenoid is open the water flows back into the reservoir. When the solemnoid is closed then the T is closed so the water flows through the misters. Nearly all aquarium pumps and fountain pumps are made to run 24/7 not intermittant. They last longer when not turned on and off frequently. In actually the rotts should be inveloped in a mist od droplets not sprayed. when that happens they develop hair roots not big fat tap roots and feeder roots. The system actually works better if the roots never grow down into the water. Some people install shelves made of the plastic grates used with flourescent lights and cover that with a layer of silk screen cloth. The plantds grow much beteer when the roots just stay moist not wet and definitely not in the water. They plants will grow with roots in thw water but then temperatures of the water must be lower and oxygen levels higher. Keep the roots jsu moist in air and those are not big issues anymore. Plus the internodal spacing is always closer when the plants have lots of hair roots. There fore qulity and quanity increases as y the palnts or more compact so the lighting is more intense. It is sorta like, if you can fully bud out a plant 18 inches tall in 6 weeks that produces the same amount of bud but fat and tight or more than a 36" plant in 10 weeks that produces long fluffy stemmy buds, which would you perfer to grow? Especially if the plants started out as identical clones.

here is the deal iv got both a 1500 gph and a 2500 gph eco pump and they dont put out enough pressure the 1500 pump does about 5.7 psi running 3 4.5 gph spray jets the blacks one from drip works, but spray pattern is more of a strem and not a mist.

iv got also got a pro mist pump that runs 100 pis but the flow rate is only 6 gph so there again i have the pressure but not the flow rate for the number of jets i need that is 4.5 gph spray jets. the reason i use the 4.5 gph jets is they dont clog on my test runs but the 0.020 orfice 1/2 gph spray jets got salt build up and clog even with a 80 micron, after 1 week of off and on cly. and did not spray right. iv got some ez-cloner jets ordered and hope they do better with the higher flow rate.

The roots could easily go 2 seconds every three or four minutes verus every minute.

hey iv got some of the 3/4 ghp sprayers you linked to, but i havent tested them yet becuase they dont screw in good and they strip out when you try to take them out. that is using a 10/32 drill bit and tap.

I have not tried the threaded only the barbed. The Iwaki is what I use on most my Aero tube systems. Along with a solenoid and timer. On a few of the larger systems I use a larger Iwaki pump that puts out 42 psi. They are too expensive though (about $600 or more) so I only buy them when I can get them on eBay.

update iv tested the 3/4 gph spray jets with my 100 psi pro mist pump they worked really well the mist was very fine almost like a fog. i had 5 of them and in the right pattern they will cover a 2x4 foot area. the lower the they are the more area it will cover. i know for sure now i will be using this pump and spray jets from now on.

That is a lot of pump for continous running. Usually it is used with an accumalator tank so it only runs about 10 or 15 seconds every 10 minutes or so. The misters are usuualy only sraying about 1 second per minute. It is another whole fireld of growing aclled High Prssure aero. It is usually done in cambers, not tubes or shallow tables etc. A secon easily fills a good size camber with fog that takes a god minute to be used/dissapear.

the pump is small and can only do 12 gph and turns around 120 rpms so it is made to run continous and even dry or so the guy that builds them claims. usese about 50 watts he builds another bigger pump but runs faster. im going to try out his bigger pump in a few weeks.
