Can I harvest now?

IMG_20150415_154916_947.jpg IMG_20150415_153626_344.jpg Hey guys,

Have two unknown indica's under a 200 total watt t5, and two 40 watt CFLs hung a little lower for better penetration. Messed up though, it is week 8-9 of flower and only two weeks ago were the two cfls added. Anyway buds look really small except the top cola, but all hairs are turning darker and amber in color. Haven't checked trichs yet, don't have a magnifier. Wondering in how long you think it'll be ready for harvest, and if only the top cola should be cut first to let lower buds get more light?

Also I have two more 40 watt CFLs, you guys think they should be added now or is it too late?

Thanks for any advice.

You'll need to look at the trichs. Some people cut from the top down and let the lower bud sites mature a little longer and it works fine. But my biggest advice to you is get a better source of light.

I'd say you have at least a month to go on that plant. Don't harvest yet. There's really nothing there to harvest... (I say as nicely as possible) Hope you do well. :peace:

Well thanks, that's pretty much what I figured.

Could I ask you something else though... Would you reccomend removing some of the fan leaves at this point so the buds can get more direct light? It is pretty pathetic looking right now, I'd like to do anything possible to get a better yield in a few weeks.

I have heard of farmers doing I have when I flush cause they turn yelliw and are useless anyways, but the rule of thumb is the fans are your highway to feed the buds.

Fan leaves are good they'll die off on their own when they get too old and fan leaves are what harness the light for the buds. I usually defoliate a lil (mostly to make juice) but really keep all my fan leaves until harvest

You need much more light and also it will take longer to bloom because your choice of floro and lack of light. The density won't be there or weight but as long as the genetic good so will the smoke

Reflective material would help too.. Is that mold or just kind of burnt wood in the background?
Next time you could also do a scrog or better training for an even canopy.

This was just actually a first try without a lot of research ahead of time. The background is a dirt covered wall, but next time a tent will be used. Plan on using a 6x6 mylar tent. Already have a 1000 watt dimmable HPS/mh. Now I'm wondering if another 600 or 1000 watt hid will be needed to cover the full 6x6 area? Any thoughts on that?

Another thing,

If using say two 1000 watt mh for veg, could you dim both to half power? Then for flower use both at full force or one full on and the other at half power?

Lumens ÷ (6x6=)36 = lumen per foot. If your shooting for the minimum of 5000lumens per foot then your looking for 180'000 total lumens. Which i believe a 1k tops out at 160,000 lumens?

If your using a 6x6 space then go with two dimable 1k's. You will get a longer operating bulb life/ballast life that way. You could also get that 180'000 lumens your looking for in flower.
