Can I grow with a clear pot?

Is it ok to grow a plant in a clear pot?? I need to custom-make a pot so I was thinking of using a clear plastic box.. Will this work or should I paint the outside black or somthing??

roots hate light. funny tho i am using 2 liter bottles, mountain dew and sprite and even some 7 up vintage or circa(?) 2006 and the roots so far are loving it. It is a ebb sysem with tire mulch, not to reveal too much. But as a rule of thumb roots will will die in light and white would be a good idea as to reflect light.

yeah ive heard its bad as well but im using 2 clear pots and the roots have hit the side of one of the pots, lights been hitting themmfor 18 hours every day mfor about 2 weeks now and i have not seen any thing wrong with them
