Can I grow, if I don't smoke?

I'm in California, and I would like to begin growing marijuana to sale to dispensary's but I don't smoke, can I get a grow card? If yes, what do I do to get one. Thanks

Not smoking would likely be working on your side here, however the process to become a licensed grower is quite rigorous, I'd recommend consulting with a legal professional if you're seriously interested. Be prepared for an extremely time consuming and expensive process. If you'd simply like to grow legally, it would be in your interest to get a medical marijuana card, allowing you to legally grow a certain number of plants, Here in Colorado, that amount was 6, it may differ some in California.

Best of luck growing friend!

You did previous to recreational legalization, now everyone over 21 can have up to 6 plants and 2 oz's. To my knowledge Cali is still medicinal only, not rec, so you would require a med card to grow. Although if OP wants to wait it out, it's likely there will be a rec initiative in the near future in Cali.

Yeah just get a medical card, that's the easiest way. That's what I did. It also allows you to buy clones or seeds from dispensaries, cutting weeks off of waiting for seeds to ship.

You're in cali, plenty of great places to buy clones both in the bay area and LA.

Ok, thanks that really helps, and the clones will not be a problem, I know a dispensary owner and there grower for a few years now. But I felt dumb asking them these question cause been around them I should of known the answers, but since I don't smoke never really thought of growing so never ask. Thanks again.

I personally prefer to buy seeds than trust dispensary clones, dispensaries have a tendency to hang on to their best genetics. Also I do want to clarify, a medical card will not allow you to sell any amount of marijuana legally to any dispensary/person/friend, only cover your back for cultivation.

Looks like a sure thing for 2016, probably November. Given recent polls it should pass fairly easily but it's likely nothing will be implemented for at least a year after the election.

Oh, well that changes things you see I want to grow to sale legally. But I don't smoke or plan to. Well thanks anyways
If that's the case, you'll need to hire a lawyer/attorney, and ideally have tens if not hundreds of thousands in order to work out the kinks. Selling to dispensaries is great because of the legality aspect, but it also induces a lot more competition, and you're more likely to get price gouged, not to mention the mind numbing legal processes. I had intended to do the same, however for the average Joe, it isn't very practical.
