Was out walking my 2 dogs today and the oldest is a female and she is ten..well get home and grab some water I see she has something in her mouth and can barely see feet..so I make her give it to me and it is a baby rabbit..about the size of a newborn puppy...it has tiny ears that stand up...so not like a newborn but very young with fur ...any idea how to keep alive? put it in a box with a bunch of dead grass to bed on.. but not sure what to feed..milk? vegetables? fresh greens and water?
We had a cotton tail we rescued about 6 months back. Stuck in the middle of a busy intersection, and the wife grabbed it.

You have to use heavy cream, and a cat's milk formula for them when they're little. You also need to feed them cetotropes (sp?) which is essentially rabbit poop that they eat which has special enzymes to help young rabbits digest their food. We have rabbits, so we were able to meet all of it's requirements, and released it about a month later.

They are VERY tough to keep alive once they are separated from their mother .... so you probably did the best thing by releasing it.

ha! never find that nest man...the reason I rented this place was because it backs up to xmas tree farm, and I had big plans for that property...but..Did not work out like I thought..people back there doing shit with trees way too often for me to utilize that property...but I like walking around there with the dogs...thousands of rabbits ..dozens of wild turkey..never seen a wild turkey until I moved here..surprised how big they are and can still fly..some coyotes and deer...very scenic and quiet ...few other Michigan differences I have noticed..not many mosquitos here..maybe been bit one time since I moved here in almost 2 months...not much rain here either maybe that is why no skitos? beer is very expensive ...not many radio stations..plenty of church prayer stations ...pizza sucks

It was the only way to put the numbers runners out of business.

You could get your dog a 'bear bell', which can be somethng as simple as one of those fishing rod clip-on deals that alert when a bite occurs.
Just a small noise as he walks will scare away most wildlife like that.
It's a common pratice for hikers in bear country who don't want to meet any.

no bells, I like to move in and out of there quietly, she is real old...10 is extremely old for her breed..her constant panting is too loud for me, my boy is 4 and is like a black panther he is quick and silent.. he only goes after the large game like deer n turkey n coyotes ..she is real motherly ...she wants to nurse these rabbits and stumbled upon a nest or two..I bet I have a better nose then her now and her vision is going..she has that old dog blue haze in her eyes most days...One more complaint ...have not found a decent hydro shop yet either for supplies...the one in three rivers is hands down the shittiest dump I have ever seen...and the other one in three rivers is clean but too tiny and not enough inventory.

I would think that you could find a decent shop in "the zoo". my border collie started to get the eye glaze at 10 and lived close to twice that. his hearing started to go around 15. now I have to settle for two cats. the orange tabby went after a bunny as soon as I threw open the front door today. lucky bunny made it to the brush..

Never been to the zoo yet...will go this fall and gear up..think it is like 40 minutes or so..funny thing here is so many rabbits and no hawks or owls..just those giant vultures looking for road kill..you would think with all this prey there would be some hawks and owls around eh.

I'd think they're @ in most areas. I see lots of hawks, owls nocturnal u only hear em, buzzards galore. shitload of eagles in the UP. dogs are the best home security, may end up with a pup again one of these years. 

Hawks may not be populated back into your area yet Corso.
DDT really hurt the birds in Michigan because of their shells breaking too soon, and a lot of waterfowl and large birds of prey disapeared in many areas.

Where I live - it was unusual to see a Blue Heron, or a hawk, 20 years ago.
Now I see them all the time and even know the nesting locations of two sets of Trumpeter Swans in the area.

So I'm guessing if you don't see any hawks - you soon will with all that food out there for them.
