no rockwool or any other media at all? How does this work with holding the roots and such like rockwool does?

Also, what nutrients would I need to add to the water? Any do it yourself laying around the house stuff? lol

use gravel for medium, you can root cuttings directly in the gravel, i'm sure you know you need net pots; and as for nutes....

superthrive (additive, not a fert)
general hydroponics 3-part
cal mag
mollasses

that's about as cheap as your going to get and still do a good job. you'll also need a digital ph pen and a tds/temp pen

Yes, I know about the nets. Thanks :blsmoke:

Also, the mollasses isn't actually needed correct?

mollasses is the black gold of growing babe ;) liquid karma and others; mostly blackstrap. skip the expensive additives, and go with good ol organic blackstrap mollasses.

rooting cuttings in gravel is simple. it's done in dwc, or a bubble bucket. you put the slips in the medium, and place the pots in the dwc, and in a week-4 weeks, you'll have roots.

edit: you don't even need a rooting agent if using this method or aerocloners

yep, and peat is weird with ph too; i think it's 5? but you can ph it, and days if not hours later, the ph will be way back down. i shy away from peat.

rw is good, and aerocloner would probably work best for you in the long run. easily made for around 50$ or under. if you like, i can tell you how. maybe even throw some pix in.

for a homemade aerocloner, you will need 5 360degree spray heads (plumbing dep at lowes), some 1/2 inch pvc pipe, some 3/4 inch pvc pipe, 3 3/4 inch elbows, 2 3/4 inch caps, one 3/4 inch T and a 150-190gph submersible pond pump (garden section, lowes)

very simple, you make a manifold, and install the spray heads, and plug it up. it is recomended that your cutting sites be 2'', and that you use neoprene plugs and collars, but i pull my slips at first root, so a 1/2 inch hole is perfect for me.

this is a great way to root cuttings, no medium at all, and roots (usually) in five days, more if it's a pesky strain, but still sooner than with rw or soil.

and let's see if i can do some pix now...

i use tire mulch fromthe home depot garden section. it is recycled tires made into a mulch. It is an actual hydropnic medium i found listed on web. But is just read lava rock actually is hell of a good medium, as in it beat eveyting else somehow in a test on weed. Cannastats had it. I am also root ing clones in a ebb and flo tiremulch system for fun and it works. The only way i have taken clones and they all rooted fine was in a dwc system. Just put an airstone in a coffee can. pop holes in the lid, half inch wide. I did 5 clones that all grew this way. lol that is ghetto.
