Can a seed be planted upside down?

This thought never really concerned me until I tried a new seeding medium, Rapid Rooter. This product is very dense and I just noted what seems to be the tap root coming out on top, trying to grow up out of the medium. You can see the seed down in the plug sprouting, but it really looks like a tap root coming up . Am I tripping, or is this possible that a seed could be planted upside down. I have never seen this before, but as you can imagine I am pretty nervous as I have over 20 beans in this stuff. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Peace

The seed will keep pushing until the cotyledon breaks the surface and your leaves sprout, which ever way that surface may be. If your roots are in the oxygen too long and have no where else to go then they will eventually die. Just flip it over and let the root grow down into your medium and the rest of your bean push upward and out.

No not really. what happens is the root grows so much, and some times the root gets bend, and grows up breaking through your growing medium.
I've had that happen to me once.
You want to make sure the seed scare, where the seed was attached to the plant is facing up.
Make the hole in your grow plugs bigger with a pen or something, use a pair of tweezers to place the seed in the grow plug.
Shit happens sometimes.
