i dont get it! We are having really nice warm (sometimes too warm) weather where i am in cali and i'm still getting mold (botrytis). Plants are healthy and really without any problems. Only thing i can think of is that the buds are getting too big/dense? It seems to be happening to my indica doms (bubba, purple berry,) mainly because they are so dense. As far as i can tell whats happening is the buds grow so dense and large that they end up smushing a leaf between two nugs and that smushed leaf ends up in botrytis? I have also noticed that a common spot for botrytis to start is at the base of a fan leafs stem. A little brown spot will develop at the base of the stem of an otherwise healthy leaf (that spot is actually dead plant materiel) and will develop into botrytis (mold). If thats the case then how can these things be avoided? It really sucks to watch these nugs develope over the weeks only to see them fall subject to mold a week or two before harvest time.

anyone else having mold ,botrytis, issues?

Yep, I've noticed a little on some of my plants as well, the ones with the denser buds and also the purple genetics.

I find that a caterpillar turd is almost always the seed for the mold. I just open them up and remove the affected calyxes I've also been keeping fans going in my garden to help with the humidity levels.

Humidity plus rising temperatures equals mold. This is a good time to pick up some sulfur dust or spray down your plants with a milk-water solution.

Fighting the good fight with scissors and some copper fungicide spray, it's been rough. :(

Today I'll treat with some Captan fungicide, it's barely mentioned around here for some reason... but is a non-systemic, non-resistance forming enemy of botrytis and highly effective in commercial strawberries and other fruits and bulbs.

Any rot I've ever had was caused by budworms
Never ever seen a budworm here. But any damage to the plant is going to encourage botrytis, if that's what budworms do then there ya go.

I keep my eyes on the brown calyxes (preflowers) and any leaf material that's gone dead.

It's starting to suck here in MA. Damp and chilly for days. I was hoping mold would prefer warmer temps but that does not seem to be the case. With a couple of weeks to go it looks like there is no option but to ride it out. Not knowing any better I am just approaching the problem with scissors, alcohol and rubber gloves. Taking comfort in knowing I have smoked enough spores to infect a lot of bud.:D

Riddle me this....I have five plants of concern and they are just about touching they are so close together. A Budda Tahoe, a Cheese, a OG#18, a Super Silver and a Delahaze. ONLY the OG #18 seems to be bothered?? Is mold resistance an attribute that can be bred and are there strains that are more resistant? Sure would be a hell of a goal for a breeder.

Rotted, yes some strains seem to be more resistant , then again, it could be because of the density(sp?) of buds.
