Ive observed this in nature amany times. Humans seem to be the only species intelligent enough to look at others problems and not themsleves.
Large poplation moves to a fertile place, go crazy, cause it is so fertile, then quickly deplete and move on to another patch

It is funny how crops are being water restricted and how people think commerical crop production is to blame however ag systems and the cost to maintain such things like cow farms is the problem. If the world cut down there meat consumption it could remove many issues, one crops grown here are mostly used for..you guessed it animal feed , and then the animals need water so survive, and all the while they produce .methane gas which is a greenhouse gas that is breaking down the ozoone layer. Another point I'd like to make is we eat meat for protein as we found animals require similar proteins making it easier for us to get through meat, different foods are higher in certain proteins and it is not hard to find them also the calorific value we get from eating the plant directly is significantly higher than if we eat meat. When you think about it reduction of meat consumption helps in many ways it can reduce the obesity we have caused, help stop a major cause of methane gas, reduce costs associated with growing food for animal feel and eventually reduce water consumption...

The up side, the Ag industry can label packaged salads as pre-salted and charge more!

But seriously, it's getting bad.

According to the Monterey County Water Resources Agency (MCWRA)[6], the high dependence on groundwater for almost all of the water needs in the Salinas Valley have resulted in overdraft conditions in the Basin. As a result, numerous urban and agricultural supply wells have abandoned or destroyed due to the degradation of groundwater supplies. Further overdraft of groundwater resources and seawater intrusion will continue without the development of additional water supplies to supplement existing groundwater supplies.

yes it is, but this kinda throws the feeding cattle thing out the window doesn't it? i think greed is the issue, finger pointing doesn't help the matter, imo.

Anyone think this gigantic ecologic disaster isn't man-made?
Radiation leaks, toxic waste leaks, yes...man made. The weather changes? I am not sure. Fish fossils have been found in desert areas, meaning at one time that desert was covered in water at one time, way before man existed. We have not been on this planet long enough to know what is natural change for it.

There are still flat-earthers out there, too. Hard to change strong mental constructs

most methane is from using fossils fuels.

Obesity is because most people have no self control and over eat constantly. Like my fat ass co worker that says he's starving at lunch time. He doesn't need to eat for a month.

I'll keep up with my caveman diet

1984 overweight person trying to lose weight

2004 overweight person trying to lose weight

2004 person has to exercise 2x as hard and eat 1/2 as much to lose the same weight as 1984 person

This factoid came across my wife's weekly email update from the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She's a registered dietitian

The game has changed. Anyone can google the role of chemicals in our environment and hormone mimicry. Exposure can affect your immune system, re-direct and hijack your metabolism, and it affects different people differently. Everyone isn't equally affected

Sugar prematurely burns out your pancreas and desensitized your cells to insulin

Check out per perfluorinated compounds and its direct relationship to lack of immune response among children in the US

The real insidious problem is corporations bathing us in chemicals. American corporations. Not as bad in Europe where corporations are not so blatantly shielded and secure.

To characterize this as "calorie in, calorie out" is a complete disregard of the facts, and is simply yet another corporate talking point. Same sort of corporate talking points used against us by the tobacco industry. Remember the ads where doctors recommended a brand of smokes? We see it now as the brainwashing it was. Like reefer madness. "Calorie in, calorie out " is simply more brainwashing and obfuscation.

What I was saying isn't as cut and dry as I made it sound.. I know there are many factor involved and I am not saying all agriculture is bad in fact I am President of my schools agricultural club and compete in national Ag competitions and expos, my point was as far as the water a huge misconception is that it is generated from the horticulture industry mean greenhouse, nurseries ect. in the United sates more water is used to maintain agricultural systems, and with the things we have done to this earth and to the water we as a society should be a little more cautious. Not everyone uses only rain water or grass to feed their crops and especially not greedy big corporations. My point was all things in moderation, I am not saying remove all the livestock in fact I promote it on smaller scales. this is only my opinion based off of statistics and meant to be somewhat of a laugh well raising good points. The world has gotten carried away and it is clear to see things that we can feasible do to cut down on some of the things we are doing to add to them.
