California, College, and the life of my dreams

Hello everyone,

i know there is a very large group of cali residents here on riu, and im sure alot of you are already doing this...honestly it inspires me even moreso.

i currently go to school in co, working on a business degree, but i have realized that i dont think i could handle working for a life of monotony, and everything corporate life will give me. I am really considering transfering to cali, and am already planning on attending oaksterdam in the near future. i just want to be involved in the industry as a whole and do everything i can to help the movement, as well as helping patients themselves.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what i can do to make this dream a reality? maybe recommend a good school/area for me to transfer to ( with a business program), or any other advise?

i know this could make me a potential competitor, but i would rather just be partners :)

i guess my whole thought process was - i'm paying out of state tuition to live and go to school here - why not pay a tiny bit more to be in cali

but i will continue to keep my options open and just make the decision that seems more rational i guess..

passion is a bitch

Transferring is fine, but don't transfer to a lesser institution just to get to Cali a year quicker. So far as B-schools in California are concerned, the big one is USC. Berkeley has a B-school. UC Santa Cruz has a B-school -- good location for what you want to be doing. Loyola Marymount has an up and coming B-school, recently endowed by the Hilton family. Claremont or Pepperdine would also be options. UC San Diego. Fuck, UC Davis has a B-school, although I'd hate to be in Sacramento.

I assume Stanford isn't an option, or you wouldn't be asking.

What's Oaksterdam? Some kind of weed growing institute? Tell me more!

www.oaksterdamuniversity.com

its pretty cool man, check it out.

but yeah as far as not transfering to something lesser, i guess i should be careful. For a second i was considering humboldt university but i dont know if that would match where i am right now. I didnt realize uc santa cruz had a business school, i remember looking at their website and not finding it.

socata - i know how you feel man, ive already worked my way up here from texas so i cali is the next step! stay determined

You dont need to go to oaksterdam but I'll be attending soon and I know there's others on the board...

I think every school has a business school=).. Come up north more by us and you'll have good clubs and peeps to kick it with... I went to business school at Fresno State.. Pretty much all you need in corp america is how to kiss ass. Keep your mouth shut, and kiss ass and then you need a hook up to be able to kiss that ass first so start making connections... Santa Cruz is good climate though=) I went to a Disspensary there last weekend and got some bomb ass blueberry and strawberry cough

Everyone I know from Sacramento hates it and wants to leave. Driving through it, so far as I can tell the tiny little downtown area is kinda fun and the rest is a wasteland. I do like the meatloaf at Biba's, but happily she's published the recipe.

Depending on your GPA, for a top line school I'd recommend UC Davis. Davis is kind of small and boring, though, but everyone smokes weed :D.Really any of the UC and CSU schools offer a great education. I was looking into Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which is CSU. But it's one of the more competitive CSU's to get into and I think I'm going to have to do my time in community college first. My brother went to Sac State and got his construction management degree. He liked it.

Hahahaha Never been!!! I'm doing the extension classes!! I don't have time to go to school and work.. The only time I have to go is next fall for a couple of weeks to finish up. ie
;familirize with the equipment firsthand and do my final exams.... I guess it prevents cheating huh? This fall I'm starting a 2year full time degree in cold weather viticulture.. Then I should be done...
