Cali Connection Chem91 Hermie

Anyone else have problems with Cali's Chem91 turning hermie?

I completely revamped my flower room hoping to fix the issue but they're still turning hermie after about 6 weeks in flower. I don't believe I have a light issue. I'm wondering if they're sensitive to nutrients. I'm running H&G nutrients and I thought I wasn't overdoing it but now I'm second guessing myself.

I ran their Buddha Tahoe OG and haven't had the problem. I'm only getting it with Chem91. I wonder if it's strain related.

I'm also bummed at the potency of the hermies. It doesn't seem anywhere near what I was getting with the Tahoe. I'm thinking about scrapping my remaining clones and cloning my SourD and Strawberry Cough mothers instead.

Sounds like ya tried everything right, and guessed right. It's probably the strain, are you burning your plants or look otherwise unhealthy? If not then there probably isn't a nut issue. Just from what I've seen and heard on the nets, I personally wouldn't buy or grow CC gear. Sucks especially if you liked it otherwise

You might consider running one of them in an organic mix to see if it helps. Plants sensitive to nutes probably are not well suited to your own custom mix (or someone elses). They likely want what they want and nothing more.

That said, it does sound like a pile of garbage anyway and possibly worth just killing.

I've ran this strain with incredible results. In fact, I had to ditch it because it was too powerful. I had to take a nap 30 minutes after a session. Very narcotic.

I'm sure there are good and bad phenos. Seems to be common in Cali connect. But if you are lucky to get a good pheno they are top notch, the bad phenos are all the horror stories you hear about.

So you didn't get any hermies? Were you running regs or fems? Just curious because I picked up a pack of regs to cross with the Corn Bread I picked up. Same question goes to the OP were you running regs or fems?

I ran regs. Not one herm.

I have Fem Chem 91, and yup mine hermies too. I just harvested my 2nd generation of it from clone and the mother plant turned herm and so did the clones. Luckily it's nothing severe I just picked off the nanners and kept it moving. there were no seeds or nanners on the buds just on the main stalk. Anyways this strain KILLER as hell so I dont mind removing a few pollen sacks. I actually took some of the pollen and crossed it to a Moby Dick plant I had

Lets say you get one good seed per pack, what do you do with the rest. How do you know which is which until its too late? Out of 8 packs you get 8 keepers(less for me), you have 72 plants that herm, no sprout, or burn easy! Who has the resources? This is a true story by the way... I am not picking on you, but giving my exp with them. I actually like you lol! I had 3 reg packs and 5 fem.

I feel like mine wasn't as potent as other strains I've grown. I prefer the mental/halo/headband high effect in my bud and I don't get that at all with Chem91. It is great for exercise and sleep though. I'll see what my patients think of it.

I am different than most growers I guess. I'm not looking for money or a huge harvest. What I'm looking for is an outstanding plant. I have no problem hacking down a plant that shows some intersex traits. I recently cracked a bunch of seeds. Several from Cali connect. Tahoe, Buddha Tahoe, 818 headband, larry og. Also the funk, white fire, diesel fire, and queen Tahoe. (Tahoe clone x reversed Louie pollen)

Many of each strain. Figure half will be males. Out of the females I will be happy with one og and one sour og. Two plants from... Many.

If I have a hermie plant I will pluck the balls off once. If it comes back, out she goes.

Why would I be happy with only two you ask?

I don't grow my personal smoke from seed. I grow it from clone.

The only reason I crack seeds is to pheno hunt. Looking for that special one.

In Cali connect I have found top notch plants. This is my opinion but nothing from the top notch breeders whom get there ass kissed like they're gods even come close to a keeper Cali connect keeper.

I get where you are coming from, but not everyone is in the same position. I agree about trashing under performing plants, interesexed or simply sick plants (although you may not). I'd prefer to run good plants I find, while seeking different or better. What I like, which I know isn't always possible, but some can do it better than others, is not grow out a completely trash plant when we have legal, space, or general resources constraints for. I personally don't mind a few plants that are not anything special, but I certainly don't want something so shitty its best bet it hash pile. Who wants to grow out something that has the potential to possibly microseed a garden? Perhaps for you this isn't a concern, perhaps you have better vision than others finding that nanner. Either way, some don't wanna deal with it. I'm not saying someone couldn't find fire in CC or any other breeder I haven't personally grown, even if I have grown a breeder I know I haven't grown out every single line or bean, but I know the whole correlation and predictability from others. No need to repeat the mistakes of others. For some, its a gift, in my case that bullshit would fuck up shit I'd rather not.

If your in a position where you can't afford to cull plants at the drop of a dime than stay away from og.
I guess that I didn't know that about og. I thought that the tahoe was good but I had such a bad time with the other seeds. Plus, I am kinda new at this and going all out($800) on these seeds was the dumbest thing a beginner(me) should do. My clones do not always live, so I need to take many of them. I need to get a couple of mothers per pack that I can clone. Also, I am horrible at finding male stamen on a female. I guess that I like to keep it that way lol!

hmm...I dunno then. Did you only grow one seed or multiple? Mine is pretty dank it had about three diff tastes throughout the cure it went from OG tasting to Petrol/Menthol/soap, and after about two weeks it tasted like pepper or something haha it was weird. How much did your Chem yield?

I got about 4 oz per plant. I had 3 of them in 2 gal pots under a 600W HPS. Room has a CO2 generator (1500 PPM). Average temp was 75. Average Humidity was 63. 1 fan moving air. I flowered them for 62 days. I used House and Garden nutrients and roots organics soil. Per gallon of water they got about 10-18 mL Soil A/B, .4 mL Drip Clean, 1mL Roots Excelulator, 3.5 mL Multizen (Weeks 1-5). 3.3 mL Bud XL (Weeks 6-8 ), 2.8 mL Top Shooter (Weeks 6-8 ). They were flushed in week 6 and week 8. I made a note to myself to flush in week 4 next time. They were given .75-1 gallon of water twice a week. Run off was left in saucers

I'm thinking I used too much nutrients and should have flushed in week 4 instead of 6 and maybe I could have avoided the crazy amount of nanners.

When I had one in a tent and it hermied I cut it down earlier and the high seemed more potent. That hermie had balls and sacs of pollen but fewer nanners than the clones I just flowered. The three I just flowered that prompted me to start this thread only had nanners. Lots of them! I never found any sacs or much pollen.

I'm guessing the plants gave up energy on producing the nanners that they could have used to raise the THC levels.

I would rather grow a pack and enjoy the diversity rather than watching your one plant(runt) for problems... I dont know why, but the only legit females I got were runts?
