Cal-Mag Usage

1) When using R/O Water, how many ppms of cal-mag is proper for a flowering/5 gallon plant? I add the cal-mag first, before nutes, and the R/O water starts at almost 0. Is 250ppm of cal-mag too much, too little, or just right???

2) When using the feed/water/feed/water regimen, how many ppms of cal-mag is proper for the watering days without feed? i.e. 1000 ppm on Monday of bloom mix, 250 ppm of cal-mag/water on Tuesday?

Some info- Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil, Fox Farm Nutes (only the three basic nutes; grow big, big bloom and tiger bloom), Hard Water around my area sucks and thats why I use R/O water.

Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!

1.) Just add however many ml / gallon of water as it says on the bottle. Its something like 3mL/gallon which for you if that was correct would be 3 * 15 = 45mL. Whatever it does to the ppm doesnt matter, at that low rate it wont bump it much anyway.

2.) I dont know, but I'll place a bet on this suspected answer: "Use calmag at the same ratio all the time since regular water would have calcium and magnesium and not necessarily the nutrients so this would be closest to what Jesus would do."

Cool? :)

Thanks for the reply! Thats pretty much how i've been going about it. I happened to find some rusty looking veins on some of my lower leaves, and it looks like it may be a magnesium deficiency, although its probably not a magnesium deficiency, I figured it would be useful to know how much the rest of you guys are using...

On that note, I'd still like to know the ppm range suggested for cal-mag'd water. HELP!!!!

I use cal mag at 1/4 to 1/2 recommended a lot goes a long way. I also only use it when needed. Kind of like crack for your plants. looking a little pale, looking a little yellow good old cal-mag to the rescue.

Thanks for the reply woodsmaneh!

After some research, R/O water is generally brought up to about 125-200 ppm with Calmag. 125-200ppm is supposed to be a good base range before adding nutes.

Can anyone confirm this? Or do people just steal pictures and lie about knowing things lol.

If you have r/o water just add some calmag and see what it does to the ppm. :) Then you'll know how much exactly how much raises! I'd add 5ml to a gallon of it and do a ppm before and ppm after.

thanks researchkitty!!!

yeah, I think im just gonna add cal-mag to my R/O water until ppm hits 150. Then ill add my nutes and work from there...hopefully that is an ideal range of calcium and magnesium for optimal growth...oh well, time will tell and corrections will be made.

Ill update the thread when I get a good solid hold on how it should be used and how much should be used at different stages of plant life.

i use R/O water and cal-mag plus but not every watering.usually i use it 1 time a week at 250 ppm or 2-1/2 ml per gallon. it is strong and too much will burn your plants like anything else.for clones i use 1ml per liter every watering until they are rooted and growing good. for clones that is all i use,r/o and cal-mag and i have not lost a clone in months.for the big girls i stop using it at week 5 of flower because mag can make for very harsh smoke.

Your attitude and smart ass comments will not get you much on these forums. I suggest you show a little patience and also use the resources available in stickies. People here don't steal pictures off the net and pretend to know shit. That was a stupid comment, which will earn you several ignore list additions...

Good luck with your grow.

You've already been told the answers to that. Are you hard headed or just seeking attention? The bottle also has pretty plain directions in English. Congrats for making my list.

Anyways, some little mutt stole my camera at the poolside in Vegas so I can't post pics of my grow right now...As soon as I get a camera (next week or two) I will post pics of my grow.
