In the US using f.l.i.r to do drug interdiction is illegal without a warrent . It's considered an invasion of privacy .

As mentioned it can not see threw walls and roofs so to be even semi successful it has to be used at low altitude utilizing things like Windows and French doors to see and detect heat sources .
Supreme court gave a big no way on that .

Note: Thermal can't "see" thru glass. It shows the temp of the glass and anything warm reflected from it. But not the other side of the glass. Try it - I have. I also have a FLIR sight. FLIR is a brand, a company that makes thermal vision, not an acronym for anything. Heat is not really IR it is super long-wave red. Don't mean to be pontifical. :bigjoint:

Even if they were looking, they're looking for venting heat. They can't see inside walls. Don't vent your heat outdoors, especially in the winter. Problem solved.
my fan is ran into the water tank in the loft, i Put the lid back over and secure the duct and the hot air is just ends up making condensation on the lid that drops into the water tank.. no heat signs at all
