C02 ethanol extraction

So I have been contemplating on making some oil with my budz.I’m not necessarily completely retarded when it comes to chemistry but I’m just going to share my idea for what I believe could be a rather potent extraction process.

This is just my theory and I welcome you to share your ideas and critiques.

As a solvent i want to use something fail proof so I’ve chosen food grade ethanolupload_2016-3-29_7-56-50.png
(spirytus 95/96%) unfortunately i don't have access to everclear.
I don't want to waste this solvent as it's far from cheap. So a cold trap will be needed but luckily I have a distiller that costed me around 80 pounds brand new.

Here is where things get a bit different, I really want to get as much terpenes as possible and apparently the best way to do this is by using wet bud or freshly frozen bud.

Now this is where I see a problem, my solvent (ETOH) is more polar than butane so to combat the extraction of lipids and chlorophyll the obvious solution is a quick wash but even with frozen bud and frozen solvent, the high moisture level in the fresh bud is going to aid in the release of the unwanted substances. A quicker wash would be a solution but I want to yield something lol. So I want to super freeze my bud and solvent with dry ice to really keep the chlorophyll locked in with the water.

Basically have a bucket filled with dry ice in it, grab my ethyl and bud out the freezer place it in the bucket for a while. Then do a 30 second soak, filter plant matter out, place the filtrate back into the dry ice for a while and filter again like a super winterize. Then put it in the distiller and heat with a heat mat and monitor with a heat gun at 79-80 °C (around the boiling point of ethanol) for however long it takes to recapture all the solvent, I might even take it a step further and place the extract in a dehydrator or on a coffee warmer to ensure no water is left. It’s also nice to know that any terpenes that may have been lost from the extract will be caught in the solvent for reuse.

So what do you guys think?

Not sure about the dry ice freezing, sounds interesting. But, the heating in the still will drive off all those terpenes you are trying to capture with the fresh frozen.

Yes, it will work. Check out this guy on you tube. He does the same thing but he uses liquid nitrogen but he said you can use dry ice as well.

Thank you so much for this post it's very helpful, watched the whole vid. This seems like the best way to make qwet.
I wish i had a Cryogenic freezer, the guy sounds like he is also from South Africa (strange).
