Buying a grow tent-opinions.

Hi Gang-Well after checking out the ebay and such I found this on the bay-item #243038-its 9.8'X5'X6.5'-I will be setting up in an attic area.It will be a lot easier for me to use this than to build an entire room-the door(trap) to the attic is only 24" square and its been a bit of a pain just getting chip board up there for the floor area. Now to find lights and the other stuff-just want a very basic operation for myself.Suggestions.Input will be apreciated.;-)

I've got three ebay tents and love em all - never had troubles with any of them. That being said I'm also growing in the attic and might suggest just getting a bunch of panda film - stapling it up to the rafters is pretty easy and it allows you to utilize as much or as little space in whatever configuration you want for pretty cheap.

i would suggest a jarden or a nocer tent since they are thick matierial, i dont know about the off brand tents. i agree with gastanker about the panda film but behind the panda film you should insulate somehow, rolled insulation would probably work and a layer of tin foil.

I've run 2x 1kW in a 4x8, 1kW in a 4x4, and 600w in a 4x4. Right now I'm growing with a 600w in a 5x5 panda film DIY tent along with a CFL veg tent (ebay 4x4x6.5 on it's side).

i have 2 off brand tents that work fine that i got off amazon. but, they dont put the air inlet/outlets in logical places or should i say, they dont have enough.
example, all my air inlets/outlets are on one side of the tent, so, if you have to place your tent in a spot where they are obstructed.. it sucks. if they would have added a couple on the other side. it would have made the tent more flexible.
there are some good, higher quality tent that have this feature.

depends on your budget

good luck in selecting:leaf:

I have a Secret Jardin (4',4',6') and it works great. Nice metal frame not a PVC frame like some other brands have, so you dont need to worry about your light and equipment dropping on your plants and possibly ending like the climax of a Michael Bay movie. Lots of in/out holes ( 7 i think in total for mine) with 2 smaller holes for cords. The quality on this tent really shows and i recommend it to anyone looking for a tent.

i got a 1.2 x1.2m tent off ebay for 100 bucks and it makes things way easier compared to the cabinet i built.

only thing i found was heat can become more of an issue then the cabinet if the temp outside the tent is fairly high.

Yeah-I havent pulled the trigger on it yet and was wondering about heat.But-I think I would rather go with a tent, indoors rather than the hassle of building a room. Here in a small town I have to be careful not to arouse suspicions with my purchases.

You are sappose to run cooltubes with the tents. Get a 6inch fan for two of them or 8 inch for four. I also got a new filter with another 6inch to exhaust the tent its self plus a 6 inch ductbooster for intake.
I recently got a 1 fan heat exchanger that is plugged into a thermostat inside the tent. But i keep it outside the tent to cool the room its in. Im not a fan of having cold air on the plants. Im thinking about running it threw the lights instead.
I can get my tent down to 22c(72f) right now in june. But it turns off when it reaches 25c(77f) and turns on when its reaches 29c(84f)
One more piece of advice is to veg according to number of plants. So try to figure out how many plants and how big they should before you put them into flower.

Secret Jardin tent as they are fantastic, grab a cool tube and an Rvk fan too so you don't have problems with temps.

Good luck friend!

Thanks so much for all the input!!I have to do things in little spurts when our tenants are out of town-theres actually quite a bit of room up there....I am not in a big rush to get going on the grow cause I am still gathering evrything I need.Gathering as much info and trying to do this right the 1st round.I picked up a nice shop lamp-cfl-4' duo with a highly reflective canopy that takes 2-F40s,that put out 1900 lumens and pulls 40 watts-it was on sale 38$ at CanTire.I hope this will be useful to me or is this inadaquete for the task??

See the thing is those Jardin tents are pretty expensive. they have a 10x5 tent I'd love to have and run light movers on it. I can't vouch for ebay tents yet since our 4x8 wont be arriving until monday. So paying 2x the price is worth it? Must be a pretty nice tent

But the price has a huge difference.
