Busted??

Ok, I am sure this has probably been asked. But I spend most of my time here learning and studying on the grow forums. So, I need to 'act the newbie' and ask this question.

Does anyone know of anyone ever being busted as a result of posting here or on any other forums?

My roomate is a very worried that my 'addiction' to RIU severly increases risk of getting busted. I would like to ease his worries, or I may not be able to play with y'all anymore.

this questions been asked a bunch. but the general census is no. so stay a while, relax and post away....

Well if your living off his good will maybe you should show alittle respect for his wishes, Sorry if thats the case.
But no I don't belive anyone has been arrested for posting here.

Hell yeah, I got busted for posting on here.... KIDDING!!!!!! Read my thread. I posed this question a while back and the answers I got put me at ease.

There actually was a guy a few years back that with the help of the post's he made and the pictures he posted straight from his smart phone, police were able to get a search warrant and came and found him. They used the pictures he posted to find where he was living and taking the pictures at, then used to threads were he was "teaching people how to grow marijuana in their apartments" against him. Just don't use your smart phone or camera with a gps option on it to take pictures and you should be good. As long as you don't go around telling people who you are on the forum or about your growing.

Edit: his user name was StickyMango. It wasn't just the pictures he posted, someone had snitched him out and told the police about his activity on rollitup and his user name. Which lead to his pictures and finding him and so forth.

I'm not in a medical state and have posted a lot this month and nothing has happened to me (knocks on wood)... like the others said, don't make it obvious of who you are and you'll be fine

Pretty sure I read a post by a mod in a similar thread that said the IP's are all masked anyway...

found this thread....i personally agree with with Hardwire's post. i have a little exp with the subject ( i used to download movies) til i got busted by my cable co. used an ip masking program....guess it didn't work. i got a movie with an embedded tag...the cable co had my ip address and the time the movie was downloaded. i had to promise not to do it again or i could be prosecuted and never be allowed to get cable at this address again...ever (GASP)

so now i rent movies and smoke the bud out of my closet....shhhh don't tell anyone

naw I'm not sure (stoner, do not remember much, haha) and it COULD have been on another site... maybe post in the support forum and ask about ip tracking specifically and what they do to prevent it.

i got bust about a week ago, not through the site i dont think tho
