It was a surprising end to a medical marijuana case in Shasta County Friday. A Redding man was facing felony charges for growing medicinal marijuana.

But now, officials say they are dismissing the case because the law he was breaking has changed.

When James Hall was in court Friday morning, protesters were outside protesting the case. Hall has a Prop 215 card (a recommendation for medical marijuana).

According to the District Attorney, at the time, Hall was breaking the law by growing too many plants. But the California Supreme Court has just changed that law, so Hall can grow as many plants as he would like.

D.A. Jerry Benito says they did not have any choice but to dismiss the charges after the law changed. Hall was notified that this case will be dismissed Friday afternoon.

i cant believe this is so controversial! first of all it wasnt 60 plants a month it was 60 plants at a time. 8-10 weeks. second i cant believe im repeating myself again but 25 of plants were going to be planted in 10 other peoples back yards, thats 250 out of the whole lot! are you getting it yet? i am only speaking to those who are giving me so much shit and just dont seem to understand! for the rest of you, thanks again! i go to court next thurs. so ill post what happens. i know, some of you want me to meet bubba in a small cell! there is something that i find a little strange. it has been a month since i was arrested and the court clerk has no record of me being on the calendar. hmmm!

But you have a court date?

Maybe the D.A. knows that this won't fly...recent precedence...no warrant (the fake warrant was for a person...not a plant)...The DA just wants to wait it out to make sure your plants die before they have to return your property:blsmoke:

You need to realize that is a lot of shit! They think your selling, well thats my guess anyway. Why do you need that many plants. You don't unless your selling to the public, and thats why they busted you. I think it should be legalized just like all of you, but the fact of the matter is you had WAY WAY too many plants. Your not helping decriminalization, your hurting it. :bigjoint:

If you have 10 cards then a good lawyer should be a help.... but if you are one of the fortunate with your card then you goota make sure your ducks is in a row... cuz ya know big brother is watching.... a licensed med mj user and grower I know where of I speak....
