Burnt Seedling

So i spaced out and kept a light to close to a white widow seedling. Burnt one of the cotyledons and the tip of the first two actual leaves. Both to the point where I had to cut them off. Seedling is still growing fine, is it worth keeping? Will this stress affect later production?

lol u got lucky wen u see the first 2 real leaves then move the light back to where it was unless u think its unsafe for the plant..

My problem exactly with the CFL being close. Everyone always talks about how close you can and should keep lights to your plants but what fails to be mentioned very often is how delicate seedlings are. You dont want them stretching for light but at the same time they are very sensitive and can become very damaged if a light is too close

so your cotelydons (the round leaves are fine) but your seedlings first leaves are burnt. I'd say definately remove them with a sterile pair of scissors, they definitely wont be able to photosynthesize and could still be wasting the plants absorbed nutrients. My question is, Does anyone know the potential effects this early life stress could have on future yield. Is it worth the seed price just to start over?

I can't really see a cfl getting that hot to burn a seeling.

Do a test, leave the light on for an hour or more, then touch it with your hand ...

All the Cfl's i've used so far I can Grasp the bulb easily without it burning my hand.

If its getting that hot then yea you have a problem.

Maybe you got a cheep chinese made Cfl or something . Thats weird.

hahah chill man. I hear ya but i never said someone should say seedlings are delicate, they just needed to mention that lights should be kept further away from seedlings and moved closer to plants once they are more mature.

My seedling which was looking bad and burnt has continued to grow and its newer leaves are looking great. doing good
