have you ever thought about buying 15,000 cans of butane and running it old school BHO straight tube style doing 3200 two-ounce runs????

kidding!!!!!!

what what if it's cali outdoor trim, and that 400 pounds is the kitchen sink and stem edition? maybe you shouldn't count your larfy buds before they hatch. It doesn't sound like you've done this large of a load before and because I herd humbolt, i think outdoor trim with allot of fat's and lipids. I can make plenny qweth that shatter's up nice n all but for the life of me I don't understand the taste, it's better than hexane just cuzz it has a itty bit of taste and i don't catch on fire as fast. but if you asked me for shatter in an hour i'd grab 10 grams of kief and some ethanol and make it happen. I only use it for making bag wash subliguals, i like the term bag wash cuzz it's sounds bad but it's really running the kief trapped on the screens.

Ugh my gut feeling is now so eerie, i just keep thinking of that buddy that said he had pounds for me in the freezer and when i got home and opened the bag I was lucky he took out the plant pot for reuse. I made oil alright, bbq sauce looking oil.

Hey guys, I've snagged about 400 lbs of trim and I'm wondering what you think the best way to turn it into oil is. I was debating doing ten lbs at once of QWISO. Is there a more practical way.

Also is anyone familiar with super critical extractions? I was debating getting the 5000 psi 20l with the 3 modules so I could run 36lbs at a time. But this would run 170g roughly. Does anyone have one or similar in design? trying to find the yield since the super critical boasts increases output.
The cheapest way that we've found to extract quality oil, is with a recycling butane system like the Terpenator. It can do a load in an hour, that typically takes a SCFE CO2 system eight hours and cost about 10% as much for the equipment.

The CO2 systems have greater specificity potential, but to get a higher yield with them, brings along undesirables for the ride.

Lower pressures produce a more floral extract, and as the pressure is raised for more speed and greater yield, chlorophyll extraction increases. Maybe a multi step extraction would solve that issue, but with that comes even more time.

SCFE CO2 is a nice process and is moving toward its 15 minutes of fame, but as of today, is still in its development stages with regard to cannabis.

Those having invested the capital, and the time to develop CO2 processes, are mostly playing their proprietary information cards close to their chest these days, so the details may not be rapidly known to all.

Eden Labs and Apeks both serve the same market, with similar equipment, because they were once both at Eden.

At least Eden Labs is offering a dual unit for around $80K or so, that can extract with either CO2, or use refrigerants like Propane and Butane. I haven't toured Apeks in Ohio, so don't know what they may have new and exciting.

Right now, my best guess is that delivery from either manufacturer is most likely an issue, so if you have immediate needs, anything but a used machine may be moot.

Thanks for the knowledge, fadedawg. Does anyone have experience with the terpenator here? It said you could essentially run 600 and something grams per hour, at a very minimal cost. Building five or so might be a viable option. Just have to offer some friends some smoke ups and food for the day and hammer out some batches.

I'm a bit skeptical myself..

Brother?..have you laid your eyes on the” trim” yet?

I ask this because,... I had a friend of mine text me with the excitement of a child on Christmas Eve.

He says..” Hey Sir_dabs, I got a really good deal on some trim, I have 10 lbs!!, can you process that for me?...I'll split the yield, you get 60%, and I'll settle for 40%.”

Well..heating this news...I got very excited, and agreed to the terms.
He said he paid 30$ per oz of trim.

So, I was set..excited and zipped over to his house, ready to blast some back at my place.

The product was in.freezer bags and wrapped in grocery bags, so I just grabbed the bags, spoke a little to my friends and headed home, thinking...

Whoo hooo!!! I got a butt load of trim, and I'm gonna have some fun..

Well, I arrive home and open the bags...UGHHHH!!

Clearly outdoor, and mostly fan leaves, rock wool, dirty, dust, bugs..complete shit.

I called my friend and told him bro?..Did you even look at this shit?..I'm pissed..and I'm bringing it back.

Just a story to give you an idea of what you may encounter.
Good luck... Lets see that trim...lol j/k

did you even read the skunkpharm link or fadedawgs posts????? hes pretty much the guy who designed the terpenator. I dont think youre gonnd find any more experience than him.

I haven't read his individual posts yet, just the run down on design. I ask if anyone has experience in the matter because I'd like to know if there are any tweeks that have improved efficiency or outcome. Or if there are any shortcuts people have found through trial and error. I'm getting a pic of the trim today; it's from someone I do work with every week or two, so it's a trusted source; I was assured its decent trim that's sitting at my friends. It still has the water leaves in it, but hardly any stem. So it's a waiting game to see. Ill post it up when I see it, good or bad.

read post 25 again... it answers every one of your questions regarding time, yield, and contaminants (choloropyhl and stuff)

Essentially if I use a higher pressure machine and more chlorophyll is extracted, winterization would allow for separation of the all non essentials yes?

winterization doesn't remove chlorophyll it's after fat's and lipids that only show up with non polar extractions. kg707 maybe you should seek skunk pharms consultation directly, the world doesn't need 9000 grams of green oil for 5 bux a gram.

Yeah, I'll reach out to them, thank you. Regardless, this is a business endeavor for profit. If it turns green I could still market it for 4-5g a lb and still crush the competition out this way, but I want the higher quality thus selling for a higher price. 3200 off a lb of oil that only cost 800 is still pretty good in my eyes.

Hexane/saline is what skunkpharm suggests to remove the chlorophyll it works well....sunlight will also destroy it and yes degrade your product slightly but its not too bad

Awesome, thank you. I'm gonna run a small batch today, roughly a qp of nug and play around with the hexane/saline, as well as winterization. I'll throw some pics up. Thanks again for the info, guys.

n-hexane is $55 a gallon here

192 proof is $30 a liter here

99% iso is $10 a liter here.

That's 20k +/- just for solubles, not counting the machinery and labor. This is beginning to sound expensive, just to get rolling.

Be diligent mate; you don't want to end up like a record label musician with 7% profit after everyone's paid.

My original intended investment (165) for the apeks machinery. Sorry, don't intend to flaunt, just to prove the legitimacy of my intentions to the non-believers. Doing the qwiso wash now. will post pics.
