Bulbs

The guy at the local hydro store convinced me (took about a half hour) that the more expensive bulbs are a waste of bucks. I ended up getting 4 ultra suns(1000w) and the whole way home I was thinking I made a mistake. I have about 3 and a half runs on my digilux bulbs and I was thinking it's time to switch out. I got 4 bulbs for 200 bucks, it's really hard to say no to that. but if they suck I don't think I will even use them. Any opinions?

There was big thread about bad reviews of sun pulse vs digilux but don't hold me to it.... I will try find it

well my $35 dollar bulb 1000w hps is kicking ass.

I fired them up and they look "ok" . Not like a fresh digilux in my opinion but it's hard to tell with the naked eye. I kept one digilux going so I will be letting you all know the comparison. I read that thread before and I smell bullshit in those pictures and with a "2year used" bulb. Just tryin to get some more opinions

I assume you're running a digital ballast. Personally I spent the extra money on Digilux just last month. I got it for $65 out the door.

One thing is that Digilux is 95,000 lumens vs Ultra Sun @ 90,000 lumens. The Digilux also has a better spectrum with extra blue.

You got a smokin deal. The best deal I could get on digiluxs was 85 a pop :/ . Yes I'm running 3 lumateks and a quantum. Definitely going to get more digilux after this batch. Also how many harvests do you guys usually run your bulbs? I was told after 3 they start to hurt yield?

Ask your hydro store to price match. Digilux lamps should be good for at least a year. Some change every 6 months, others every 2 years or more.

Even the cheap bulbs will swing the needle hard on a older analog light meter that I have. I think the biggest difference is in the profit margin. Theirs not yours.

I got some killer buds with my $35 dollar grow bulb.I think if you changing bulbs every grow or two this might be the way to go.

Want to punch myself in the face. That site has some killer deals, glad I spent a grand at the shop already. I appreciate the link! Definitely going to make sure I don't put more than 2 runs on these ghetto bulbs.

I run the cheapest possible bulbs. Philips ones where I buy them. I am more inclined to get cheap bulbs and replace them more often. wear and tear is more likely going to decrease performance over some marketing wank of a more expensive bulb.
