building a Ballast Box?

I have an area that i can vent heat generated from my lamp into an attic.
it works well with the 1000W HID lamp i am using in my tent.

I noticed that the ballast produces a ton of heat that is just being contained in the room, so i wanted to try to vent it out into the attic also. I would simply move the ballast out of the room, but its not possible to do so.

that said i had an idea of building a box for my ballast to be inside of, and trap the heat. i figure i could then use an inline fan to vent this heat up to the attic, and copy what amy grow tent is already doing well.

the ballast is about the size of a shoe box( sun harvest pro ). I know that there are potential fire hazzards in this design, so i need to think it though and do it right. a box that is too small will be bad, that i am sure of.

I figure if i make the box big, say ~3-4 x the dimensions of the ballast, use a hole for passive air intake, and then cut a hole for an inline fan which will pull air through the box, and be vented up to the attic.

basically copy the idea that is used with a grow tent/light.

is there anyone who has done this and would share their experiences with this.
perhaps an electrician can comment?

i think the concept has merit, but only if its done correctly.

any educated input would help.
thanks in advance
