Hey all.. I'm on Day 68 of my first CFL grow using the "Buds for Less" book. Although this is harvest day for the book, I think I still have some time to go. Any thoughts.

Using:
Ten 42watt CFL's.. since in the flowering stage most are 2700k.
Current temp: 81°
Current humidity: 40%
Last watering: 4 days ago, 4 quarts of tap water, pH balanced to 6.8

It is a good book, and you're right
you still got time, does it seem to be
filling out still? Looks great. Looks Kushy?
I just got done with my latest using BFL
I start at day 31 as i veg longer/shorter
sometimes. So the day Pistils show.
I usually end up at around day 75-80
but i like real stoney weed.
(Day 77) on this harvest.
Drying now but fat dense buds.
80g trimmed main 139 total trimmed (wet)
Peace

10 lights x 42 watts = 420 watts
you would of gotten much more bud from a 400w hps at about the same cost for electricity and bulbs
but it looks good
will you post how much dry u get off it?

Nice to see someone else following the book. My first was also from following this book and I got good results with bagseed. Did u use the regular MG Soil from the book? If so, be prepared for some weird, "Miracle Gro", "chemmy" taste. Maybe I flushed too late but I was unable to get taste removed until like 4-6 weeks cure and it still had a slight hint of the chems. When I get a chance to start a new lab, Im going organic.

I use Foxfarms OF and Nutes.
Grow before this one i fed nutes up until the last watering (1/4 str.) The day the first buds were dry enough for curing, i rolled one up. Tasted just like lemonheads candy. This grow fed nutes
feeding before the last one. This tasted more lemony less sweet. Still blown away by the taste with no real flush.

Thanks man.. I think I would've had to spend more cash working up some sort of ventilation system with an HPS. All I needed for this grow was a single clip fan at $10. Also, considering I was able to piecemeal the bulbs as the plant grew, I'm skeptical that the electric cost would've been the same. See below for my final results.

So here are my final results..

Although I mostly used the BFL as my guide, I did take a few suggestions from the folks on here. Thanks to everyone for your help!

I differed from the BFL book in the following ways:
  • I used clamp lights instead of the fixture the book outlines.
  • I gave the plant an extra week, harvesting at day 75 instead of 68.
  • I kept the lights off for 48 hours prior to harvest.
Curing was five days in the closet and am currently drying (burping the container on a 24hour closed/12 hour open schedule)

Smell: Piney yet sweet. There is an herbal sweetness to the odor that reminds me of jasmine pearl green tea. Very pleasant.

Taste: While I noticed just a whisper of chem taste like blakkmask, my wife who is a daily smoker says it's just me and that it tastes great. Overall I have to agree that it's certainly very acceptable.

High: I'd say because of when I chopped the high is 80% heady, 20% couchlock and incredibly potent. Maybe I'm a lightweight or something, but 3 hits lasts me for an evening. The strongest herb I've had in many years.

Final trimmed harvest weight: 2.25oz from a single plant.
See my attached pics. I think I did pretty good for my first grow.
