Bud Rot or Safe to Smoke?

Been lookin at the girls with the lights off for the last few weeks, and when I say that I mean I turn the lights off and check them, not that I'm checking them during their dark period. It's about time to chop, so I took some clippings to check them out under the microscope. Now that I'm looking at them, I'm not so sure if they're okay or not. The first clipping had some whiter areas on the top that were extra soft (first pic, all the way on the left at the "top" of the cola). They're also more brown than they are green. Someone told me, "it looks like bad broccoli that I would throw out."

Temp in room has been 75* F lights on, 70* F lights off, humidity ranging from 30-45% (if the meter is correct).

Sure does look like mold in some of the pic's.......the others are just plain old strange too. You're crazy if you smoke that, but if you insist- make sure you microwave them for a bit to kill off the nasty's. Actually, after looking at them again- I don't really see any resin so they probably won't get you high anyway.

Thanks for your response. If I decide to even try it, it's going in the oven for the approved thermal death time for mold. None of the other colas had any white "spider web" like stuff on it, they're just a bit brown but the insides are still green. Dense too, nothing is mushy. I think the plant used up all available nutrients 4 weeks out from flowering.

Any more opinions?

QWISO it if you have to smoke it. Simple process. ISO should kill the molds if there is any. As SSHZ says very little visibile trichomes I doubt it's very good.

I wouldn't smoke it and would check all my garden to double check that it's gone. Mold can make someone very sick

I still don't see mold on the bud though. It's a "double bud" forget the scientific name but they generally grow fucked up and don't produce a lot of trichomes on that branch. Certainly not bud rot.
5th pic down, right side...that black dot:oops:
Could easily be a spec of dirt or other debris hardly looks like mold to me, if you're ready to puke due to a little spec of dirt on a sticky plant you need to get away from MJ right now :) I guarantee you've smoked bugs and their shit in the past if you've been smoking for more then a year.

Powdery mildew is also good to smoke too I bet huh?

If ran threw ISO first then probably as long as the product used was only slightly infected. Jorge Cervantes says you can wash it off in a tub of water, I wouldn't go that far. If ran threw 91-99% ISO then it would/should be fine to smoke. Eating would be even safer as the stomach is better at processing molds then the lungs but that's up to the OP.

If the product was totally infected or you have other product to consume then by all means toss it but if you have nothing else but a bit of bud you "think" might have mold on it ISO is a good option. Certainly better then trying to wash it off with water :)

I made butter with all the bud I had that got mold, found it pretty early when the mold still wasnt too developed so I wasnt too fussed and the butter is pretty potent so all in all I would recommend it if you dont end up making QWISO.

no heat necessary
Do you have a link to a good write-up?

I took a small piece of a different bud that had been drying and threw it in the vape. This bud didn't have ANY signs of powdery mildew, but was quite brown. Obviously it hasn't had any time to cure so it's harsh also. One hit from 40 mins ago and my chest feels itchy. I really think the soil didn't have enough in it to push the plant all the way through flower, as half way through it looked stunning and green, then all of the sudden it didn't smell as good and leaves started turning somewhat brown.

I'll probably throw a few buds in to cure for a while, just to see - but I don't think I'm screwing with smoking this.
