Bud rot? Or just dead bud?

Wasnt wet and mushy when I picked it, no fuzz like bud rot usually has, but its all brown and nasty.....

Looks like this is gonna be turned into blender hash.....

What you all think? I'm not sure if its safe to smoke or not, but not gonna take the chance. I know Botrytis cinerea is NOT safe, and has been known to cause lung infections. More than half the buds on the plant I harvested look like this :-( It was early as is, and now mu 1-2 oz, is looking like a lot less.....

Something similar has happened to me a couple times, and it turned out to be bud rot. I wouldn't fuck with it. Might make you sick or respiratory issues... :/

1: Simple answer is it's completely F*"$ed up, don't smoke it you'll be smoking mold spores which WILL cause problems. I can guarantee you that every bit of bud on that plant will smoke like shit....rot goes through the whole plant.
2: Why did this happen, your keeping your pots too wet/saturated, the rot developed because the root system was unable to breath.

The process was simple... I yanked the whole plant out, trimmed the leaf, and hung it to dry in a closet with a dehumidifier set to 50%.
At least 50% of my buds looks like that. Harvested 2 days ago.

Nah... this happened cuz my plants started to bud in late may/early June, and then reverted, but not fully.
. We did have a shitload of rain in June as well, hell... had a a lot of rain in July too.

I'm cutting all the rot out. I'll still smoke the buds that have no brown, but the rest will be used for bubble hash.

Eta: never seen rot like this before. Some buds have it, some don't. Usually, the rot starts at the bottom, and works its way up like fire.... this stuff was really sporadic and spread out

Pix from july 7th....

Notice the funky single, and curly leaves....

And the rot that was noticeable a over a month ago. Only reason I pulled her was cuz she wasnt doing a thing, and, I wasnt sure if it was rot, but wanted to make sure that if it was, it wouldnt spread any farther. Odd that it didnt get any worse in over a month.... a very wet month at that....

Looks like bud worms/caterpillars to me.

hmmm.... Hadnt even thought of that. I didnt see any on it, but then again, my plants dont usually have buds at that time of year, so I only go out to visit once a wek, or every other week. It was the only plant of my 6 at this place that had it this bad, so that may be it.

I had em on one of my kush bushes pretty bad.

I just harvested it and they don't seem to be bothering the other strains as much.

When it reveged did you remove all of the calyx's?
If you're asking me....No, it hasn't reveged yet. I'm trying to reveg it but I guess we'll see.

I just pulled out the ruined buds and moved on. It didn't get bad till a few weeks before harvest.

No Stoes, not you. Team420 when revegging all old calyx's should be removed because they will degrade and hold moisture causing habitat for mold.

No... I've never had buds that early before, and had no clue what to do. I searched here, and other forums, started a thread here, and most people said just leave them be, and get what ya can out of it, so thats what I did.

I will make note should I ever have this problem again tho.
