Bud Candy?

BC, you're talking to a brick wall, my friend. As a teacher, I have seen this phenomena over and over again. Young people these days have become ingrained to expect instantaneous answers to any question without having to put any effort at all into finding the answers themselves. I see it every day in my classrooms. Their book will be sitting unopened on their desk, and will ask me a question unrelated to anything we have been discussing, something like "What is a comma splice?" In the interest of trying to help them find answers to their own questions (since I am not always there), I will ask them to refer to their index and see if they can find the answer themselves first. Their reaction is almost always the same - they think I'm being difficult. They'll get all incensed and say, "But you know the answer. Just tell me!" I'll try to explain that I am trying to help them help themselves (you know, the whole teach a man to fish concept) and they always get defensive: "I was just asking, gah!"

Too many people (usually young people) are becoming less and less able to help themselves and expect someone else to swoop in and do everything for them. I see it everywhere in real life and all over these boards as well.
Take a day off....if you dont wanna help people then why dont you just remain silent and let the rest get on with it....too many posters of negative comments on these pages....heres me thinking us pot smokers stuck together

Settle petal....show a little patience with the newbies...we all have to start somewhere....myself as a newbie i find it easier to ask people who know and are willing to help without much of a fuss....afterall isnt that what these forums are for
I agree with this as well. We are all here to help each other, and the experienced should always be willing and ready to help those who are trying to gain experience. However, I can totally relate with BC's frustration also. He helped by saying "Check out the feeding schedule on Advanced Nutrient's website." Then, instead of googling "Advanced Nutrients," Steve says, "What's the website?" Then, BC gets frustrated and Steve says "I HOPE URE PLANT DIEEEEEEEE." Sounds JUST LIKE so many students I see, well except for the whole plants thing. LOL

You misunderstand my point. I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just trying to point out that people can try to answer some of the more obvious questions for themselves. If I came across negative, it's probably just because I understand the frustration.

I personally do not think that its a matter of not sticking together it's a matter of trying to help yourself, from my little time on these boards I have noticed that if you want respect you have to earn it and by that questions that are easily found on the Internet may not earn you respect if it looks like you just want people to answer your questions without you putting in an ounce of effort.

Just try, if you cannot do it yourself I am sure the vets of this board will be more than willing to help. I mean I am just starting my first grow, sure I have asked some questions here but there is not one question I have asked that I did not at least try to find the answer.

No worries. I think the frustration sometimes leads people to the far extreme of not wanting to help anyone, and that's not good. I just think taking some ownership of our own learning development helps improve the level of conversation on boards like these, just as it does in a classroom.

Im just trying to cut the guy some slack here....im on my 2nd week of flower on my 1st grow myself.....I do my own research online or via the growers bible and then will ask the vets/experts on here for confirmation on bits and bobs ive picked up from other places as some of the info gathered from elsewhere can be conflicting....its not being lazy its just a matter of not wanting any major fuck ups with my little precious ones haha

On a lighter note....this is the 1st ive heard of bud candy so ill be looking into the uses for this stuff and see what benefits it will bring to my bud :)

Totally agree with you. I guess it's all on how you present your question and how it's perceived this question to me did not sound very well thought out nor was it implied that he was trying to help himself at all. Unfortunately this maybe a way he needs to learn next time think it out and see if I can find the answer.

Without all the hostility... What BC's Finest said. Check out the feeding chart. AN even has a hotline you can call. Without getting into price points, marketing BS, and the arguments that follow AN, it is true that fert companies want you to succeed with their product - It's better for their bottom line. So they will give you solid advice.

Personally I like to follow the directions to start, and then tweek it if I need to.

I gave him all the help he could get and he still did not get it, he's not a newbie, he's a newfie.

You want some advice regarding Bud Candy? But Black Strap Molasses instead, its around 1/10th the cost and is the same thing!!!!!! If you have it already fine, use it, but since it is formulated bsm for hydro use and you are growing in soil, you will be better using bsm next time around. Green mojo dude and hope your crop is nice & frosty W

Not trying to start a pissing contest, but do you really Believe there are scientists in white lab coats working day and night researching these ridiculous new magic potions for cannabis? The millions of dollars spent is on branding and marketing. You are the research lab. I should know...
I'm an ex moderator of their medical forums, I was a,distributors tech sales rep, and I still retail the stuff.
What is bud candy? I'll give you a hint. It is 2 AN products mixed together. 1 is no longer on the market.
What are the 2 actual active ingredients, and what do they do? lol..

They get that from their parents. It's not just young punks. I can't count the number of grown adults who've come up to me and asked "how do I use this stuff" or "why doesn't it work?" with regard to some pesticide or whatever they've bought. Then you have to tell them "This doesn't work that way" or "This isn't the right stuff", or "You need to read and follow the directions". Ever seen a dead lawn in a neighbourhood of green lawns... Those people.

Point is, the kids are no worse than their parents. - Stupid 'Me' generation...

I don't want to diss on AN, but personally I don't use them for various reasons. They do have good product though.

There's some truth to this. I teach both traditional and non-traditional students, and sometimes the non-traditionals can be just as bad as the traditionals. The big difference I have seen is that typically adults are willing to help themselves when you give them the tools to do so, whereas many young people (not all by any means) just get resentful when you won't just do it for them.

I think parents and schools are the biggest problems. We inadvertently encourage this kind of thing by giving into it. Believe me, as a teacher, it's a hell of a lot easier to just give the answer than it is to go through the grief of trying to force someone to find the answer himself. You see that right here in this thread. When you don't just do everything for the person, you get stuff like "I HOPE YOUR PLANT DIEEEEEEE." It's easier just to give in, and too many parents and teachers do just that, and the problem perpetuates itself.

No offense, but I do! what makes them so good? and no, budcandy is not black strap molasses. it's dextrose (carbo load-simple sugars) and salcytic acid-aspirin or active ingredient in scorpion Juice). What makes a product good? how does an $80 gallon of sugar and aspirin make for a better product than say... a $3 pint of pure molasses?
Why is molasses so special? anyone? anyone? lol!
