bucket bubblers.

hey all can any1 tell me how your supposed to adjust your ph and ec, ect. without exposing the roots to light, cant find any other way of doing it without taking the lid and plant out. very easy to do if you are running a seperate res with a water pump, but every1 has told me its completely un nessesary. but if you having to adjust once or twice a day then will it harm the roots.

If your adjusting two times a day your reservoir is most likely not big enough or your not waiting long enough for your pH to stabilize when feeding. A root air bath is good every week or two and a light will not hurt your roots, it's the little creatures that like the light and will grow in your reservoir; that is why you don't want light shining in.

Hello billybob.....

I have a separate res and a inline water pump.....When my plants are small I can pick them up and check PH and ppm......when I start my bloom time they are to big to lift so I had to rig up a pump...I try not to pick them up much.......I can turn my pump on and take a sample from my buckets at anytime........

The only time I was haveing to adjust my PH daily was when I was having some problems........The grow I am doing now I only adjust the PH once a week...........nitro..

drill a 2" hole in the lid near the side. use a 2" net pot and collar to block light, you can also run your air hose through this. pull up pot to inspect levels and take readings.

thanks all iam using 10litre buckets, i think twice a day is to much myself i had that problem when using 5 litre buckets but only once a day for these buckets but maybe iam being to picky, if i seen my ph raise to 5.9 from 5.5 i was trying to correct it to much.. am i right in thinking your ph should gradually rise and the e.c should gradually drop.
if any1 thinks 10 litres isnt enough please tell me, and also iam using bio bizz grow and bloom. should grow be enough the n.p.k is 8-2-6, or are you supposed to use them both together.

Hey billiybob...

Yes that is my experience....My PH will rise and my ppm will go down....I let mine rise to 6.2/6.3 by the end of the week, then I just change my barrel.......When my plants are vegging this is what happens....................When my plants get big the PH seems to act the same but my PPM will climb in my buckets....And I think it is because they are drinking a lot and not useing up all the nutes.....So I do a quick flush between barrels........anyway I hope I was helpful ................nitro..
