hey everyone, thanks for stopping by. i got my tds meter today it hangs on the wall with a probe in the resivoir. i also picked up a hydro farm 8" inline fan. for right now it's only blowing air through the 1000hps but i'm going to add a 400 to the line as soon as i figure how to cool the veg closet. i need to do this soon!!! the temps dropped by 4 degrees after installing the fan. the room would normally run 92 wiith lights on, so i'll take that 4 degree drop.

1 of the papaya is starting to peek out of the rapid rooter and the snow white is the prettiest green and starting to take off. the tds meter is reading 620, the ph is 5.8 and water temp is 68. i'm thinking about diluting the mix so the papaya seeds can catch up a little.

this first pic shows the new fan blowing in and it exhaust there by the ballast. this is just temporary, i want to setup the fan to blow into where it is exhausting now.

and vent it through the 400 here and outside from there.

after the probe had an hour or so soak it was reading 710 so i dumped about half the water and refilled with fresh tap water, the tds meter is now reading 590. it reads 220 out of the tap.

here's the snow white, those white spots are something the camera came up with.

just rubbermaid tote with a bathroom vent fan taped to the top, there is a hole cut in the top and several holes drilled in the bottom.

a cooling rack for baking fits in perfect, this is what i'm trying to get away from, this is 3 plants and i bet i get maybe 3 ounces out of it. this is my very first water harvest but resivoir temps were way out of line and i'm going to blame that on the small yeild. any thoughts?

might be a small yeild but this is going to be some killer smoke. it's some urban poison from nirvana:peace:

Thats an excellent use of a cheap bathroom fan.i think I have a couple in the garage ...how long do keep them in it and what is the room temp? You know those buds look pretty good to me....how do they smell? any plastic odor?

no plastic ordor at all mr. natural this is the first time its been used. the room temp has been in the 90's and the humidity in the mid 50's and lower. its been 6 days and the stems aren't snapping like they should yet but getting close.

both papayas showed today, i'm ready to get this grow going. it's been a long time since my closet has been this empty. the snow white is looking great and 1 set of nodes to go before she gets snipped at the top using uncle ben's method to get 4 tops.

i keep thinking that my grow needs a water filtration system to compliment everything else that's been invested.

do you all think this will do the job or do i need to go balls out and buy this one?

or do i just keep using tap water? i need some input please.

hey pwizzle, that dryer worked great, the stems were nice and brittle this morning so they got a manicuring to get rid of all the unwanted stems and off into jars they went. it weighed out to a little over 3 ounces so that has to last me until this grow is over. if i run out i really need a tolarance break anyway.

the ventilation is almost done, just need to pick up a 6" flange kit for my air intake. it will be drawing air from under the shed and vented above the door. this use to be a brooding house for my chickens.

i changed the water today and put the papayas in their own growing baskets, after flushing out both tanks and refilling the ppm was setting at 350 so i've decided to buy the cheaper water filter. the left over parts from the vent project will cover about half the price. i figure that's 350 ppm of stuff that i don't know what it is and i could be using these nutes i have.

i also fixed a fan to suck a/c into my veg closet, i just need to finish sealing it so all the cold air doesn't escape.

i bought the water filter and hardware so garden hoses can be attached making it portable and the vent system is now complete and temps in the closet dropped down to 84 degress and the a/c is cycling on and off instead of running non stop. since co2 is being used i'm trying to dial room temp to 90 degrees and save a bit on the energy bill. should i be using the co2 or wait until flowering? here lately the door has been opened enough it was getting plenty of air exchange.

not a lot to up date on, one of the papaya sprouts is still wearing the seed shell like a helmet and the leaves still haven't poked out yet. she is in the net pot and a plate blocking any light. i added 20 drops of super thrive to the resivoir. the temps have been holding a steady 88 degrees and humidity in the 40's. still haven't added any nutes.. i fimmed the snow white yesterday at least i hope i did. these papaya beans are hard ones to pop but well worth it in the end. i'm going to get the screen up here in the next few days. how far from the light should i mount it? i'm thinking 18" to 24". i put a blue mystic/northernlight cross bean in a bucket full of mg that's sitting outside in the vegtable garden. i always plant 1 or 2 outside then i get scared and pull em up.

this morning i took some tweezers to help get the seed shell off my baby girl, got half of it off and it looks like it will never live. the shell stayed on long enough to start rotting the leaves. a replacement papaya seed went into a rapid rooter this morning. this grow will never get started.:wall:

hey pwizzle, it took hold, the sprout was about a 1/2 inch but the seed shell didn't get soft enough to crack all the way open, it's sister that came out the same day is doing good.

the last seed popped out this morning so i have 3 plants and ready to go. i added 25 ml of each, flora gro, flora micro, and flora bloom, 50 ml each of diamond nectar and floralicious grow, and 150 ml of flora blend. the water temp is 68 with a ppm of 520, the ph is 5.8. room temp has been between 88 and 92 and the humidity staying in the low 40's.co2 is being released into the room. i've got a fuzzy logic co2 controller on my shopping list, for now this is what i'm using. http://www.hydroponics.net/learn/co2_calculator.asp
