Bubbleponic Setup Question

Hey everyone.

I am setting up a DWC/bubbleponic grow and had a question regarding the bubbleponic portion of the set-up.

If I wanted to run three plants in three separate 5gallon buckets, would I need three separate water pumps? Or could I have one water pump somehow connected to each basket supplying feeder tubes with water.

Maybe I am making this too difficult and missing the obvious answer. Thanks in advance for any help.

Skip the water pump! Lots of air... lots of bubbles... lots of happy plants!

I skipped the water pump out of budgeting concerns the week I started my DWC bin up. I'm so glad I did! Simplifies it... keeps extra heat out... and its less to clean! Take a look at my signature and you can see the growth rates!

I agree with DivinePower but....

If you really wanted to run one water pump then you probably would need a controller/resevoir. Or you could run a small cheap water pump in each. I found that water pumps in DWC are more of a hassle after my plants root; gets all tangled up and becomes a pain in the azz to mess with.

Happy growing!

Thanks for the help guys!! How then do you accurately water them until the roots are long enough to drink directly from the water?

Thanks Everyone

You just want to keep the medium and current root zone moist - not wet. If you check it after its been bubbling a while there should be enough of a mist from the bubbles breaking to keep that going. If not... raise your water level a smidge or hand water - just dont over due the hand waterings. The less you hand water and the more you make the roots search, the faster you will end up with roots.

Great Stuff, thanks everyone. I am currently reading my way through those tutorials again...

Anyways if I were to be growing three plants in a 4x4x6.5 tent would you guys suggest I use three 5gallon buckets and have one in each or use a 15gal tote for all three.

Would the yield be effected either way, ease of use ect are things I am trying to consider in making this decision.

Good call on that, so your seeing quite a bit of upword growth even after you switched to 12/12. Are you happy with the 5gal buckets or would you have any reason to want to switch to a tote?

Thanks everyone, anybody else have an opinion of 5gal separates or one large tote??

Dont be to worried about letting them grow right past the light. I've done it although not optimal... I didn't see a major impact to the plants production.

how many gallons of water is in ur rez? You will need a pump that emits close to or MORE Liters per gallon as what you are using. Otherwise once your roots hit the water they will drown. drown I tell ya. I think most dual pumps are rated for 7.8 liters or about 2 gallons of water. If you had 4 gallons in your tank you would need 2 7.8L pumps to cover the amount of agua you are using. 7.8 or 8 if we round it + 8 = 16L giving you more than enough air to sustain healthy roots. Get it?

You can veg them together but I'd grow them in their own 5 gallon buckets so you have plenty of room for the root ball to grow.

I would agree, seperate buckets, youll find that your plants will get pretty big at least mine did and they need room to grow, everyone has different ideas hope mine will help :peace:
