If you want all of the resin (full profile) a 200/220 micron is the standard work bag/size.

I sieve everything repeatedly through a single 200 micron then filter all of the resin catch through all the bags/screens.

Ok thanks a lot guys. So the stuff that gathers in the first bag (220) is pretty low grade?

I use 3 bags 160-45-25 for 2 grades

25 is on the coffee filter 45 is on the paper this was just being stored loosely in the fridge while I did more washes.

if you’ve got the money a setup like this surely makes it easier and yields more without sacrificing quality imo

note the 120 bag, this was just for the first wash of some pretty fine crispy material, the 120 grade wasn’t full of plant material as I had expected so I got rid of that for the runs after

Umm don't just use 1 bag. I throw away my 190 bag to get rid of that. then use 120 to catch some ehh stuff to smoke before the rest. I think 90 is the best so I use that bag, then I use the 45 cuz that's a good stuff 2. And of course the 25 for the scraps.

Any ideas on how to keep the damn bags from moving around so much when you stir is what I wanna know

Edit: I bet canvas sides help that vs mesh

I use a bucket without any bag and filter that into a 10ltr bucket using the 200 micron bag, when the material is exhausted I filter all the catch with the rest of the bags.
For most of the process I don't need to use them.

You can cut the bottom from a same as bucket then sit it inside your bucket so the bag doesn't move and you don't catch it with the drill/whisk.

90 and 73 is what you want

I let the 73 go with the 45. I don't mind at all it's a great pile to smoke on
Ya that's fine. But if you want refined full melt 90 and 73 will be what you're after. 120 and 45 are second grade. Still great but 90 and 73 is where you will find the ripe heads.

Yea if I was gonna press I would use more bags. I'm lazy, I make the hash for bowl toppers. I will say I've tried to dab 90 and 73 before, they almost totally melt away, worked well

Trial & Error is the best way which looks like you've done it already. I find if you do not sift it at least twice you will end up with lots of plant material/dust in your hash and it will effect flavor, burn and how it holds together.

I wet trim and immediately freeze my trim. It makes the best tasting hash, and no decaying matter in the buckets

That's the way to go. I pluck all stemmy leaves off when I harvest and then let the plants dry hang for 10-14 days (until stems snap) then dry trim in a trim bag, hand touch and the sugar leaves and popcorn buds all go into my deep freezer in a tightly knotted turkey bag. I noticed if I forget to freeze it right away and let it sit in the warm trim room for a few days it will make a darker wax and not crash to diamonds as fast as well.. Not sure if that's degradation of THC or just changing how well it collects together.

I think it begins to take on moisture from the air. I also feel like everything breaks off in less washes, or more comes off in first wash maybe, if truly frozen for at least 24 hrs. Get it in the bucket frozen, stuffed with ice under and on top
