BsB's Autoflower Breeding Cabinet

Hello RIUers and welcome to my little breeding project. I've always been fascinated by the autos, but after doing a bunch of breeding projects with regular photoperiod strains I took a hiatus and didn't get to mess around with them until now. Constructed mtself a small cab, lighting and ventilation hooked up...will be adding a scrubber as time goes. Smell isn't an issue but its always better to be safe than sorry my fellow cultivators!

Cabinet Info:
Wood frame/construction
3.5'H x 2.5'W x 2.5'L
160 cfm 6" inline fan vented with rigid ducting for support (while rigid the elbows are adjustable so I can angle the fan as needed/move out of the way as needed)
Electrical outlet wired directly into cabinet so as to minimize the need to run them externally (Best decision in this design, saves space and extra stealthy and organized)
Lined with mylar

Lighting:
1 x 150w Floralux HPS
4 x 23w CFLs (Considering an upgrade to 4 or 8 LEDs for heat reduction and more light output)

Media:
Top soil
Peat moss
Coco coir

As this was started with snow falling...no stores are stocked with stuff for gardening just yet, but the mix is light and there's added worm castings, bat guano, and seabird guano, all stuff I've had lying around.

Strains:
2 x Chronic Ryder (1 is still trying to survive so could be 3)
2 x Diesel Ryder (1 is still trying to survive so could be 3)
1 x Delicious Seeds NL x Blueberry Auto

Goal this run:
Reverse sex of 1 CR, and use it to self pollinate, and cross with the diesel and nl x bb.
The second run will have dinafem cheese auto to be pollinated with the reversed CR pollen as well.

Reversing is to be done using homemade colloidal silver solution, and the ultimate final goal of this is to produce higher yielding variants of the Diesel Ryder, NL x BB, and Cheese. Along with a few stray extra crosses in the mix to try to get a few different types of autos as well.

Pictures will be following in the coming hours!

Well, I was going to post pictures up right off, but there wasn't really much to look at, now things are starting to pick up and pictures will come tomorrow for sure.

To give a small update...
I fimmed the best looking chronic ryder, and ended up with 4 tops (6 if the 2 innernodes grow at the same pace they have been) This one was chosen to be treated with a homemade colloidal silver. I plan to spray tomorrow evening when lights go out, placing a piece of construction paper to seclude 1 or 2 of thw tops and repeat that for 21 days and proceeding to self-pollinate along with a cross between diesel ryder and a cross with nl x blueberry (all auto) along with saving some pollen to cross an auto cheese and a regular cotton candy mom/clone with.

Both pairs of chronic ryder and diesel ryder plants have shown sex at their 4th nodes(Joint Drs) and I'm hoping the NL x BB is soon to follow.

Again pictures will come tomorrow afternoon, prior to treatment. It'll be a long post describing my CS process and whatnot so be prepared! Ill try to keep updating as often as possible and will answer any questions asked (to a point)

So feel free to chime in with questions or comments or feel free to sit back and enjoy the show!
Always welcome to constructive criticism!

Well first off very nice. I have a few questions BC I am starting a little breeding project myself with some auto white widow they are at day 14 now and I'm using colloidal silver which I have never done before always just used a male and a female. But I was wondering when u started spraying them and what ppm ur silver is I have 30 and 50ppm. From all I have read it says start spraying when light is cut back so day 14 for autos right? And also do you know if I should start adding nutes to that one or no because u want male sacs I haven't given it any so far.

As for ppm, I don't have a meter currently so I couldn't tell you what concentration my own stuff is, however when reversing the sex of a plant the higher the ppm the better(to a certain point obviously) The 50 PPM is what I would use. And when to start is per your preference, Im starting to spray tonight as they have all started to show sex now and I want one ready to pollinate the others. If you started spraying earlier than that there isnt anything wrong with that either though. For clones a lot of people like to do it a week or two before lights out as they are 100% on the sex of the plant. Nutes are perfectly fine to give. Ive been giving mine nutes all along myself. Thanks for chiming in and the questions.

Pic update coming in a bit as I had to get my laptop working in order to do it.

Alright, here's the picture update guys!

First up, we have the Chronic Ryder Twins

Here's a close up of the one on the right
rpsCR.jpg

And here's the one I topped. You can see the 4 tops in this shot if you look closely. This is the candidate for CS reversal

Here are the Diesel Ryder Twins

Here is a close up of the one on the right

And here are two shots from the one on the left, showing the pistils. They are the same shots, just with and without flash.

And last but not least, we have the Northern Lights x Blueberry
rpsNLBB.jpg

and here is a close up of her. She's the only one yet to show sex, but I'm confident in the fact that she's a girl as she was feminized.

And that's all for now guys! Timeline right now is 3 weeks by the way!
Thanks again for looking and as always feel free to post!

Next we'll go over making colloidal silver.

In order to make this stuff we need a few things:
An AC adapter (mine is 12v)
.999 pure silver
2 alligator clips
Glass jar
Pure distilled water

Really simple...strip the ends off an old wall adapter, and solder/cap the two alligator clips to them.
Attach a piece of the silver to each clip, and hang in the jar. Make sure neither touches eachother or the glass
Fill with water until both pieces are partially submerged, taking care to keep the clips out of the water.
Run overnight, for 8 - 12 hours in total darkness and keep in darkness until use.
Only use at lights off because CS is photosensitive.

Looking good! That one that u topped looks fine I have seen everywhere that it will kill them but it obviously doesn't seem to mind. So quick question if u could help me out I just started spraying mine yesterday started early, day 15 from germ but it has 4 nodes and is about three in tall so I figured why not, so I want to make seeds as quickly as possible so if I start another one soon to pollinate will that be enough time to let the pollen sacs mature enough to get some pollen and still be early enough to let the seeds mature in that one BC it takes a while to get the sacs and I don't want it to be too late in flowering then either end up with shitty half done seeds. My only worry is BC I have never done a seed run with autos and they don't flower for as long so any help would be awsome.

Yeah some strains are more finicky than others, and adding a ruderalis in only makes it worse. I'm confident in Joint Drs breeding abilities though, they're mostly uniform and he's been working them for years now. If you're careful anything will take being topped, just may require some more TLC to get it back into the veg state.

If you think about it, that's 21 days to spray, so 3 weeks, and another 2 weeks for sacs to form and open, so 7 weeks(ish) from seed to pollen for that one, if you started the other now, in 15 days it'll be about the same growth as the first, and by the time your sacs open up you'll be in the early stages of flower on the second one. I've never had issue with seeds not being done in 4 weeks time so I think you're safe to start it now. Even the seeds that pop when you squeeze them are still viable unless theyre half formed, I've grown out seeds that I swore I could bust apart by blowing on them thats how immature ththey looked and I still had probably 80% or higher germ rate. I wouldnt recommend it because sometimes it'll take 2 or more weeks of caring before a tap root pops, but regardless most of the time theyre still viable.

Alright good to know. Thanks for all the help. Will def be checking in on this to see how it goes. Happy growing

Not a problem, always glad to help a fellow cultivator!

Quick text update for those reading/watching this;
The Chronic Ryder that has been getting sprayed with the colloidal silver solution is already showing signs of progress in reversal. The two tops thay have been sprayed have their pistils browning up, which is usually the first sign that its working. Note though that spraying must be done for the 21 days regardless and it could still take another week or two to see the balls forming.

Overall plant health is great, feeding an organic compost tea composed of two types of bat guano, all organic ferts, and some black strap molasses. Fed at a 1:4 ratio tea:water. They've darkened in color quite a bit and the stretch has begun. NL x BB has shown sex and its a girl. All in all still squat but ive read they take off in growth after week 5 and thats just a week off.

Thanks for stopping by and happy cultivating!
Pics in a couple days.

Got another quick update before the big picture update tomorrow.

So far the reversed chronic ryder seems to be taking well, not 100% sure but I think I may be seeing a male sac forming already, Ill snap a pic of it tomorrow for you to see. If it is Ill be utterly amazed because it doesn't nornally occur as quickly.
The stretch is definitely setting in...the diesel ryders have nearly doubled in height over their dark period. Innernodes are starting to stretch out to the light, the reversed chronic ryder that was topped even has 8 tops right now! More for you all tomorrow!

Nice can't wait for those pics. So when you spray the plant do you let it sit on the leaves for awhile or what? Cause the one I have been spraying for five days now and it doesn't look to good I make sure to dry it off before I put her back but she looks like the leaves are starting to die and it has really slowed down in growth I took the best of three and now the other two in the other room look alot better.

I spray her down right after my lights go out and then put her back in still soaking. By morning she's dry and looking great. The colloidal silver needs time to work its magic so I leave it on. Ill have pics up tomorrow afternoon for you to see.

Well...its been 2 weeks...sorry about the loooonnnngggg delay...normally I'm better about that but these have been a busy past couple of weeks.
Happy Valentine's day RIUers!

Got a new comp and I'm ready to start laying the pics on you guys...and I have great news too!
Did a few upgrades...wasn't really satisfied with the temps in the cab...picked up a high velocity fan pumping 440 cfm...and moved the inline into the intake. Also...one pheno of the diesel ryder is very diesel heavy, absolutely needed to get a carbon scrubber as well...so since I had a high velocity fan coming...I assembled a 12" carbon scrubber...works like a charm...instantly removed every bit of smell.

That was just the good news however friends...the great news comes from the topped chronic ryder that was/is being reversed via colloidal silver, has done its business, and we've got one half of the plant covered with pollen sacs and the other half covered in buds. Worked like a charm folks. Pics to follow in a cpl hours when I get to take them.
