If Obama (who I voted for) brought millions of manufacturing jobs to the US without using subsidies, I would praise it. If he denounced globalism at the UN, saying that we will not submit to unelected bureaucrats, I would praise him. If Obama made peace with north Korea, or even tried, I would praise him.

The authoritarians are the ones who want to use the government to do everything. "Right wingers" want freedom from government coercion. The left can't win by saying that they want to take freedoms away and steal money from people, so they say that there is a huge problem that only government can fix. The left then says that the right, who doesn't want government intervention and coercion, simply doesn't care about the problem. (Children, elderly, sick, pregnant, disabled, etc.) It is a dishonest tactic and the left does it every single time, because none of them want to talk about what the role of government should really be.
