Hey all,

I am looking to create a hemp variety of my own and take it all the way to F6 or IBL. Is it only recommended to begin with two IBL varieties? The two parents that I am looking to start with are a male hemp kush F1 and a separate female F1 (not brother and sister, these are two F1 from separate lineages).
Can I build a sound program like this? What can I expect from the F1 offspring of these two F1?

It is recommended to begin with true breeding if not stable genetics. If the parents are f1 hybrids the resulting progeny will be polyhybrids with large amounts of variation and expressing many different phenotypes. They may not express in the initial f1 cross but will later down the line f2 f3 until stabilized.

Hope this helps. Maybe work on stabilizing the two lines you wish to hybridize first or use a different breeding approach

Thank you for the great advise! I never thought about stabilizing the individual lines before crossing. I like that approach.
