I have (3) 7 gal in 2x4 tent and plants are squished
i determine the size of the pot by how many plants i have in my space and the length of veg.I would use a 7 gallon pot in my 4 by 5 space with only 3 plants with about a twelve week veg.when i veg for 6 weeks my plants roots wont fill a 5 gallon pot. I run t5s,mh & hps so my experience might not be the same.

Im not sure how long I vegged, but the 7 gal girls are using most or all their soil, but they are 3 inches under top or so.

I get the best results with a 6 or 7 week veg using 8 or 9 plants in 3 gallon pots, hoping for 2 Zs a plant but usually come up a bit short. how deep of penetration does your light give it's best bud?

I cant veg that long in 3 gal unless I fertilize, and I am trying to just water.
I get pretty good penetration similar to what I got with a 600w hps, except I get more side penetration than I did with hps because I use 12 cobs all spread out.

I never tried the living soil method myself and now im dealing with 12 years of nuted soil in a 13 by 25 chicken coup that i plan to grow in this year.I wanted to plant in the ground but i'm afraid of all the old soil that i have thrown out effecting the plants.I looked at a few of those led bars that advertise on here to add side lighting but didn't see a power cord and the web site wasn't very helpful. transplanting 12 seeds to 1 gallon today hopefully i can get them sexed and under the light 8 weeks.

I am not sure if old nuted soil will be decent to use for living soil later or not, but outside it will leech into ground away from plants over time,
Link to website of led bar(s)?

don't have a link but it's the one with the grey background, they carry led hoods and bars no cobs. The LED are for indoor to go with a 600 HPS for next year.
The chicken coup will have an 8ft. wall and the plants can't be seen over the top so in ground would give me a bit more head room over some 65 gallon smart pots that i have.I plan to use new soil and a few screens to keep it short.

Did 2 five gallon in a 2x2 x 5 tent have had decent luck - 2-4 ozs per with Blue Dream. The 5 gallon fill in after 3 -4 week veg and with 4 per tent it fills out nice.
The crazy thing is thought organic soil would yield way less that with fertilizers but havent found that to be the case. A true hydro setup can yield more though.

I ran 2 different cuts of BD indoor, and dont get good yields with her, my outdoor ones got jacked so I cant say, but looked to be building well.
