[Brand New Carbon Filter] Sweet smell? Carbon have its own smell?

Hello mates.

Got a brand new Carbon filter and Hurricane fan for my 3 x 3.

4" 200CFM Carbon Filter with the 4" Fan and speed controller.

Not using a no name filter.

Using the Black ops by Sunlight Supply and have used Phresh in the past.

Using Can Insulated ducting which the ducting smells not great which may contribute to the smell.

Seeing as its a brand new filter and I have sealed everything with weatherstripping, duct tape and zip ties as well as clamps.

no air anywhere.

So, my question is;

Does the carbon maybe have a litle of an odd smell?

I am in the first few days of flower and my plants smell quite bad ( autos).

I dont think its the plants smelling in the carbon filter.

Might be the carbon? ANyone ever have this issue?

The Filter is using : Australian RC-412 granular carbon.

I have used others before and my phresh Filter had a bit of a weird smell as well. Not Cannabis like but still a bit weird.

So does Carbon have a smell as I have a fully sealed tent and completely sealed ducting, fan and carbon filter.

From what I have read new carbon filter put off a sweet smell, not Cannabis like just weird and bitter. Thats the kind of smell I am getting. Just wondering if thats normal for anyone else?

I assumed thats what it was, as there is no Cannabis smell and my previous Phresh had a similar smell when I got it.
Never had this brand before, but just wanted to confirm.
Puts my mind at easy. Thanks.

Hope this thread helps some others as well.
