BOULDER, Colo.
(Map, News) - Police say they arrested three people suspected of growing marijuana inside a house that was consuming four times the electricity of other buildings nearby.
Police say the amount of electricity being used is what spurred suspicions that people were growing marijuana in the house in a Broomfield subdivision. Police and SWAT officers who raided the house Thursday afternoon found 44 plants valued at $44,000.
Broomfield police Cmdr. Tim Hersee says a passageway in the basement led to a hidden room where SWAT officers found the plants.
Police arrested 28-year-old Joshua Davis and 25-year-old Jessica Oseles. Also arrested was 29-year-old Steven Sampson, who police say constructed the hidden room. All face felony drug charges.

So, did the electric co. rat them out? And with only 44 plants how were they using "four times the electricity of other buildings nearby."? $1000.00 per plant?

the other buildings near by were growing with CFLs LOL.

LMFAO

Seriously though that guy must be growing BIG plants for each to be worth $1,000 each. that would have to be around 10 pounds of dank, so figure 5k-10k of lights. Hmmmm, if power consumption really was the determining factor and they were able to get a warrant to breach a home and take it by force, then I would say that a fella should get all the houses on his street to grow weed.

My city has the "drug nuisance bylaw" Which lets them come over and fuck with you.

If your power bill is 3 x the normal rate, the power company informs them and the city gives you a 24hr notice. Then a fire chief, electrical inspector and a cop come over. Minimum charge for the services is 5k. I think the limit is 90kwpd. they are smart too. they know what to look for; staple holes etc.
