Bought my first honda

Just bought my first honda it's a 2010 crv paid 8.000 with 21,000 miles. Looks like new. The girls been looking for a better mpg vehicle. Not a lot of power but perfect for her.
ahh, i'm verrrrry familiar with those, i specialize in japanese cars, good choice, k24 engine, 2.4 l DOHC, 16v inline 4, DISCOP, SFI.. good shit man
some have issues with oil consumption, but mostly they are bulletproof, only thing that fails is the transaxle, if its AWD make SURE you replace the rear diff fluid, it causes the limited slip to get all fucked up if you don't. Chatters, chews tires, and eventually damages gears internally
but no need for timing belts, it's chain driven..
it's DISCOP so tune ups are cheap, and only needed every 60 k if you use iridiums or plats
i'd totally buy that if I needed a small suv

There are a couple what I would call "design flaws" but overall it feels solid I can see it makin 150-200kmiles no problem (knock on wood)
man, the "new" hemis are sucking valve seats and destroying the heads..
I've seen it twice, but my machine shop guy said he is seeing it almost daily, with 5.7s that have less than 150k
weird

That and the Subaru Forester used to trade the title of JD Power & Associates 'most reliable car sold in America' back and forth.

Take good care of it and she'll never fail you. You can only hope your girl does the same!
careful though... jd powers don't know shit...
they've recommended VWs and benz and bmws and so on..

the subarus are great, safe and perform well, but they are possibly THE most expensive to maintain (within similar price range obviously).
hell I own one, but haven't driven it in over a yr..
they eat cylinder head gaskets like candy, valve cover gaskets, axles, rear bearing/hubs, like every 100k miles you need a timing belt job and a head gasket job..
just a easy 3000 bucks if the head and valve ain't cooked.
the DOHC turbo ones do the same, only they contaminate the catalyst when the head gasket goes.. and then ya better hope the turbo doesn't get smoked from it overheating...
valve covers leak, if you damage a tire ya gotta buy all four or destroy your differencials if you don't..
subarus are great....
for autoshop owners anyways....
I totally agree with the CRV as being reliable though
I just question JD powers experience... I doubt they are turning wrenches on anything at all..
not to mention i'd be willing to wager that in this day and age, that an automaker may (or may not) be inclined to, um, possibly "lubricate" the results..
if you follow me..
Money talks, and I wonder if JD powers gets ANY sort of anything from carmakers...
Hmmmm....
just a theory.

I bought a new 1980 Subaru station wagon back then, FWD with on the fly 4WD(drop down to 25mph and pull up the lever). All in all an okay nice car but for 2 problems: the DOJ on right side would go out every year because it sat just above the catalytic converter and would cook the rubber boot till the grease spun out...bingo the DOJ is fucked. After that occurred a few times I wired a steel plate shield between the two and I'd get roughly 2-3 yrs before having to replace the DOJ. The other problem was it ate distributor drive gears, had to replace the distributor 4 times in 14 years

What was that red car you where coming from? 283 hp is fairly respectable but stupid fast is a reach
Ok probably a reach but still, anything in its segment will be smoked...when I beat a mustan gt the guy referred to it as a "sleeper"...the red car was a 95 Toyota celica (the big eyed model that everyone wants to put a body kit n turn to a ricer) I loved that car, maybe more then the one I have now, so many things I wanted to do to It, but ultimately hit a wall at 70

man.. one of the first Japanese engine overhauls I ever did was on a Subaru gl-10, the turbo 1.8 liter h-4
we rebuilt or replaced EVERYTHING on that damn car, thinking with a new engine and a new turbo and such that it's be sorta fast or fun to drive..
NOPE..
slow as fuck..
our shop (back when I worked for other people) spent, with the machine shop fees, and the turbo, and the exhaust and gaskets..
probably around 3 grand into it..
sold it for 900 bucks..
heh.. the beauty of working for a dude that had a substance abuse issue.. he'd go on a bender and we'd end up doing weird shit...

I always wanted an S model Audi, but after talking to a mechanic at a place I worked who raced them, I'll never own one. Mostly the same issues, he said invest in driveline and chassis components cause they eat them. Then my neighbor got hit with a $2000- something timing belt/ water pump job on his A6 and I was over them.
