Bought a house, have a closet, but also roomates.

I have never tried anything like this, and have been reading forums forever, trying to figure out the best way to do this. Obviously I don't want my roomates to know, their helping pay my mortgage! I have my closet, and a private space, and just need to be stealty about it. I had thought about doing the rubbermade stealth box with storage containers, but have been seeing all these closet stealth mods too. Just looking for advice on the cheapest, and stealthiest way to go about starting a grow in your guy opinion

u wanna see a cheap stealthy closet setup? check mine out. All i used initially for my setup was a cardboard box and some duck tape. i modified it a bit since i started, but it didnt cost me a dime at first cuz i had a couple lamps in my garage already. But after all was said n done, i probably ended up spendin like 70 bucks all in all on extension cords, extra bulbs, fixtures, and all the fixin's to make my space adequate enough for 3 plants. no veg room seperate from the flowering though, so that was somethin that i forgot, but really for three plants i dont need it. maybe a mini perpetual next time, but this worked good for now.

the soil n everything is a different story, but youll see that for yourself man.

Also, do your roomates not smoke?? if they do, why dont you make it a joint venture, and all of you build up the basement with like a 30 plant setup?? with all of you throwin in, it shouldbe cheap n easy for all of you guys.

well if your gunna grow in your house with roommates present then you should defiantely run it by them. last thing you need is to start growin, have them find out and have to either throw your plant out or yourself.

There is many, many ways to do this in stealth. I'll give you a couple links to let you look at. Have you decided whether you want to do a hydro grow, soil, etc?

Now if you're looking to buy a complete set-up then look at this site, it comes with everything you need, short of seeds. There are different models, there is a PC grow box, but there is also regular grow boxes:

You are crazy if you think you can get away with it. Lets see.. Hmmm you just bought a house, Which means you can lose this house if you are caught. Next.. Hmmm you have room mates. Well. I have lived in the same place for 4 years. I have a second floor Condo, and one of the people that lived below me about a year ago figured out I grew, and I never told him anything.
Try it this way, live with your room mates and save up some money so you can get rid of them, and use the Crop to help pay the rent. Just a thought. Best of luck either way.

EDIT: If they are ok with it, let them know about your grow, and just have two plants, then kill the male, hopefully only one. And if both are female keep the best one kill the other. You will not get in much if any trouble for one plant.

Well I have my medical card, but I'd still rather keep it low key. I figure in my closet, mixed in with everything else in there and a good filter system, I would be good. I've never done this before so maybe I'm underestimating the smell. I have thought about hydro but think it would be more difficult/expensive. Am I wrong in this? I've seen some of these great stealth ideas, anyplalce I can find the general shopping list? I ordered some femnized white widow seeds. Renting this house, should get here before I move out, and not where I'm going to be growing

Thanks for that. Looking at some of the hydro systems, after initial setup, it seems like it might actually be easier to maintain and get a good grow for a newb like me. Does it take up that much more space doing a hydro system? I think I like the locker grow and the dresser grow. I could make a cheap ass plywood dresser and make it look almost functional Oh, and I underestimating the smell? I could think of a way to hide a exhause hose through some filtering and up into the attic easy. I spend alot of money on weed, and risk going through the bullshit of getting busted everytime I go buy it. I figure, growing would give me something to do, save me some money, and the weed would taste oh so much better!

Hydro systems can be small or big. And if you want a super stealth grow, look at the links I posted above. Look at the link with the red cabinet. he has a small hydro set-up with just a small Plastic Container, and some other stuff. Also, there is that dresser with the door that opens, and then also my favorite one which I haven't given it to you yet, but it's in the growfaq.

Wow all of these have been good, but that thing is awesome! I'm decent with woodwork, but we'll see what I can accomplish. Ok, I think I have just gotten an idea for the frame and the stealthiness with that. A nice lil shoe/clothes organizer. I'm starting to see some good ideas and how to make it fit in. Maybe a rubbermaid bin for vegging. One other question, I remember for the original stealth mod I saw, that they put some sort of chicken wire around it, to stunt the tall growth, but yet it still produced good yields. How much room would I need for the plant to grow if I didn't do this, or does it just effect the yield?

Which is it? Did you buy the House or did you rent the house? You sure you have room mates? Even if you are renting, please. They see what is going on, you are carrying large amounts of water into a room, and once in a while bags of jugs of something. This does not take a rcket scientist to figure out what is going on.

Lol the house is in escrow. Should close in the next 2 weeks. Then I get to pain, and do some drywall work, etc.... I get home from work at 4pm. I don't see a roomate till 8 pm at the earliers for 75% of the year. One of them is pretty cooped up n his room most of the time. I can get large jugs of water from my master bedroom As long as the smell of growing isn't far more than what I"m expecting. Every pic I've seen for flowering has been in soil.

Most little single plants grows do not stink enough to stink up the house, at least first time grows. So do not worry about the stink, but keep the money read.

I would say just build either two seperate grow box spaces, one for veg, one for flower, so you can have a constant harvest, like the AL B. Fuct Method so its buds every 2 weeks, and you could even do that with 1 plant every 2 weeks for maybe an ounce every 2 weeks or so. For the screen, its called SCROG. It helps the plant grow out wider instead of growing tall. You don't have to do it, but it helps it get bushier while its shorter, so the yield is still good tho'. That's what I'm planning on doing. Go through the GrowFaq, there is a lot of different methods in there that are very helpful. But if you can, build a stealth cabinet, with two seperate sections for flower and veg.

Dude!! He is trying to keep low KEY. To do this he would have to have 4-5 little crops or one single plant goiing X five. Does not sound very under the umbrella to me.

But if he has a stealth set-up I don't see why not. I'm not saying to get 30 plants every 2 weeks. Just 1. Maybe 2 if he wants more. If he has a nice set-up, he would only need like 2 or 3 spots. Doesn't mean each spot needs to be huge. Take this Idea i'm going to give a link to below, and split it into 3 chambers. easy Stealth grow, with constant harvest. I just am not getting how it wouldn't be stealth.

Although it is short, all that you need to do, is make it into a tall bookshelf, or medium instead of short.

Check out Foothill Filters on ebay. Their carbon scrubbers are very effective for the price. They work very well for small grows. Oh, yes a plant or two can stink up an entire house depending on the strain. A buddy grew two plants about 22" tall in the back closet of the master br of a 2700 sqft home, and you could smell them from the moment you entered the house. It would be very wise to prepare for smell before constructing you grow area.

If you are going to grow this way. Just tell them.
Lets do the Math here. To get buds every two weeks You need #1 clones, #2, 2 week old plants, #3, 4 week old plants,#4, 6 week old plants, #5, 8 week old harvest, and they better be ready to cut. That is a minimum of 5 spots. These plants all take room and movement, which they will see. SCREW THE SMELL. You are trying to talk him into growing a 2 week cycle of buds with room mates he is afraid to tell. Good advice there..
