Bonsai Mums under CFLs or T5?

With bonsai mums being around 8" or so, would I be able to keep them under multiple 23 watt CFLs, or would they be better under a T5 light fixture? I only plan on taking around six cuttings from any one of them, every few months. So I wouldn't need a lot of growth.

I love t5s and you don't need a lot of wattage either. Just a couple of bulbs will keep them growing and adjusting height etc is so much easier.

I'd hang my babes under a 4 tube T5 with 50/50 mix of cool and warm white tubes

very little penetration so keep them low at 1-2 inches

strip lower veg later as light don''t reach that far

but improves venting

good luck

Great!

Just by coincidence, I had picked out a 4-lamp T5 to pick up if the CFL lights weren't getting any thumbs up. What I may end up doing is using the T5 to keep 'em going, and have some CFLs around the sides of whatever plant I need cuttings from. Just a little boost if/when needed.

Yes! CFLs are great for side lighting if you need them.
