Blue CFL bulb!

So I was shopping around for new bulbs today at Home Depot and came across this! http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-100539203/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=party+bulb&storeId=10051#.UG9R5Y5wb7U From what I've read it seems blue light is what stimulates leaf growth, and that's the game. :weed: Obviously it can't be used on its own, but along with regular bulbs a couple of these might help make that plant something extra special. Just wanted to share my find with the rest of you if you hadn't seen it before. :peace:

Isn't UV light bad for plants? Not to mention for your own eyes. That's the kind of light that gives you sunburns.:-?

Certain UV is good! Stimulates resin production....Those blue lights....Waste of time, in my opinion....But hey, its one way to find out! lol....?

The link is under maintenance at the moment.Whatever this bulb is??
Do not concern yourself with UV.It is dangerous for your eyes, and growers just use them like 10 minutes at a time depending on intensity. You are better off running some 6500K veg spectrum (ie Metal halide or Floro) along side your 2700-3000K flower spectrum.
I never seen any warrant for UV in my research.

I wouldn't use it bro...I use a 175 watt metal halide for up to 3 plants. I have another 175 for any more plants. that 175 watter is more than enough to make all 3 turn into little mutants lol. I also use the 175 to suppliment UVB in flowering as he UVB causes the plant to work a little harder to protect itself and the end result is better potency. I REALLY want to try flowering with nothing but a full spectrum 175 watt Metal halide and see what I can get out of it....Plenty of time left in my life for experimenting though...

actually, UV-B is great for cannabis. include it and potency will increase.

as a side note, i use Inda-Gro Pro-420-PARs in veg and bloom; 3% of their output light is in the UV-B range, and resin production is just crazy. buds are gooey!

btw, it's UV-C that's dangerous.

Hid's,and Floros put out wavelengths UV light.I do not doubt the resin production on grow lights that normaly put out UV.I am just keeping things simple for what I perceive as a new grower.A new grower should not mess with germicidal lamps when most horticulture lighting puts out UV anyway.

^Yes....My numbers show me I can get 300 grams with 440 Watts in my simple setup without additional UV,other than what my lighting bleeds off anyway.Any new grower reading this (especialy those seeking med relief) I highly suggest that you get the basics down, with the best genetics you can get.Google is your ultimate buddy.

BTW....An actualy colored blue or red light is un absorbable by a plants Chlorophyl.I made the same mistake when reading about blue's and red spectrums.
They make for a festive mood though.
