LOL..looks like i ruffled some feathers. I like the BCNL box and think its a great product. I definitely didn't want to waste a few days building my own. I would have bought one if they looked more like regular cabinets or were taller. I didnt want to exhaust my light cooling exhaust into the same room so i needed something taller so the ducting to the ceiling could be closer allowing me to place a box on top between the cab and ceiling to hide the ducting.

Since i will be in the SW desert in a month as my primary residence this was almost a necessity to me to keep the heat from raising my ambient temps.

I added up my costs and with all the nutes and stuff the total was 4200 but i got like 10 cycles of nutes, sentenial chhc-1, c02 w/ alum tank, 1/5 hp water chiller and like 300 in seeds...hope they don't go bad. Plasma was 600 but just sold it right after i was done for 550. And i didnt raise suspicion and i live in on the 18 floor of a highrise. They aren't loud don't smell. Also my cab has room for my mothers and veg a chamber. So if i added those "BCNL" modules it would have been more than 4 grand anyway. I really like their digital read outs control deal on there high end model with all the controls consolidated. That is something that is just impossible to pull off by yourself in less than a few hours.

No drama- some valid points but i do not feel the "proven" is argument is valid. Growing bud isnt that hard brother. I grew some killer shit when i was an undergrad in a 95 degree closet and minimal nutes in some soil. I did just kill my plants though that you saw in the journal, but purposely lol. I am moving from the NE to the SW this October and have to have a moving company ship all my shit. I wasn't thinking when i started the grow but didn't want the thing to smell even after empty for security reasons when moved that far. I hate leaving my grow journal unfinished, but there will always be more grows to document. And it really only took like an 1 hour to order everything and about 18 hours to build. This 18 hours would have been less if i didn't hang panda paper which was the biggest waste of time. Hard as hell and ended up tearing it down anyway and used white rubber paint. Not 18 straight hours but like over 6 days. And trust me man i have no building skills. I didnt even own a screwdriver before i did this project. Definitely spent more time than that though on this site looking at others cabs and best products to use. 200 hours...lol. Thats like a fulltime job for 5 weeks, haha. I could have carved a growcab out of soap if i spent that much time. And i would have gladly paid up to 7,000 for a prefabbed unit if i felt it met my needs. If i di buy one though it would have probably been the supercloset or bcnl.

I am confident that it will grow a pound a cycle though. I only plan on 2 grows a year as that all the weed i need. The whole unit is heavy as shit though(guessing 300lbs) especially w/ the sound insulation and rubber paint. I wouldn't recommend the sound insulation if doing it again as there isnt much noise. Anyone know the weight of the bcnl unit like the producer? They look like solid units.

If anyone for BCNL comes back to this thread, i would like to make a request. I looked into a non compressor type compact cabinet cooling device. The cheapest i could fine was a dual fan thermoelectric set-up that ran like 2 grand. These can be built for like 150 bucks or less if you have the time to design one. I would have paid 1000 for it but for 2000g i just dont think its worth it. Maybe you have something similar in mind already.

Happy growing

Wow FMJ, good to see your gonna be back in action.

18 hours to build that? Wow! Maybe you should be an Engineer. I can't Imagine how much time it would have taken me to do that, years probably.

Keep us posted of your grow once you get to the new pad. I wanna see that thing grow from seed to harvest.

Hi Matt,

I'm in the market to buy a bloom box in the very near future. I think I prefer the bloombox (for now) over the producer because I'd like to harvest 9 plants every 6 weeks rather then 18 plants every 3 months.

Anyway, it's clear that you have a quality product from the reviews I've read and the info on your site. I will admit to buying a cheaper box from Homegrown-Hydroponics and it was garbage, and customer service consisted of one guy who you could tell was getting phone calls forwarded to his cell phone...bad experience.

The biggest concern I have with the Bloombox is light leaks. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if a little light was leaking out into the room. But my concern is running both 18/6 and 12/12 cycles at the same time. Wouldn't the veg light leak into my flowering chamber during the dark period and create problems?

Another concern is rootbound. Your website doesn't give res demensions. Just how much res space does each plant have to grow? It seems like it would get very crowded in there.

Other then that, I'm pretty much sold on paying more for a quality product. I'm a very easy sell when I see something I really like..LOL

Thanks,

Jaydoe

PS - Do you have a catalog that includes your prices and shipping charges? I can't find any prices on your site!

Hey Jay thanks for the interest in our kick ass products!
As far as pricing, I can email you a catalog, hit me up at [email protected] let me know if canada or usa.

All dimension are in the catalog too. There is plenty of space for 9 plants in the BBOX. The roots grow in the res, there is lotsa room for roots. Got some good root pics if interested. Light leakage is not a problem, 2 chambers are sealed.

Thanks

While looking for a grow box, I came across a product from Florida called Harvest Master Xtreme. What intrigued me about this unit is that the top grow lights are separated from the grow space by glass, and there are several fans running in the enclosed part to cool the bulb. That should cool the unit efficiently. Also, they have an add-on that cools the root water. They claim that this promotes root growth.

Does anybody have experience with Harvest Master? I was going to go with the BCNL Bloombox, but the Harvest Master has room for 21 plants in the flowering chamber, and I like dual-chamber setups apart from the smart cooling system of the Harvest Master. I sure woud love to hear from someone who has used their boxes.

im rite there with you , i thought the same thing. so i got one. a bloom box of corse ,im finding that i cant run flower & bloom at the same time due to heat, room temp over 74 deg leaves your inside temp at 80 any hotter and you stress the plants. not to mention the powdery mold due to the humidity. i have made a lot of changes to mine to coerect the problems. feel pretty bad that customer support could not help with my problems, they did a good gob at listening but no resolution. if u have temp in the room you intend to use that are all ready high, or if your humidity is already higher than 50% . u will need to conceder venting , a/c and circulation in the room u want to use. once u get powdery mold in your box u u r scrued. u can keep it down but its always there.there are a lot of ways to spend 5,000 dollars on other ways that can produce larger and better crops

Thanks for that, fishenfool. Interesting that you can't run flower and bloom at the same time for heat reasons. I am looking to go with the Producer, and I don't mind having to develop the clones first although that makes the whole grow cycle longer. The increased yield should carry me through the extra time :eyesmoke:

The problem is where to keep the mother. Is it possible to keep a mother alive indoors without a special lighting arrangement? Would it work to simply put the mother in a pot on the windowsill and keep cutting her back as she grows (IF she grows?) The mother doesn't get taller than about 3 feet, right? I can't afford to get both a Producer and a Mothership and I've basically come to terms with my limitations. The two problems now remaining are 1) how to keep the mother going, (suggestions are extremely welcome) and 2) dealing with the heat.

I was considering venting the hot air from the chamber but that's not easy either. Given the huge size of the cabinet, there are not many places that I can put it where I can reasonably lay a duct to the outside, and I am not keen on drilling a hole through the wall either. But I am determined to get a Producer due to its 18-plant capacity. I have not seen another box that can grow so many. The space in the Producer and the distance between the grow sites will contribute to growing great medicinal grade weed. :weed:

(I just wish the cabinets wouldn't look like something you'd see in a hospital emergency room, all white. They practically call for a red cross to be painted on.)
